Well Environment Canada has our area today on for one hell of a F$%King weather.

    First hot as hell.

    Windy as all spring.

    Storm central as it builds.

Rain this morning but not much as it picked up as it went East.

Stuck moisture probe and dug with back hoe in hill moisture is good below but how well can crop recover at night is the question.

From my travels on the weekend it seems every thing down to the valley looks normal from Swan River down to Fort. Then as you cross the valley You have to look closely but you can see spots in pea fields that are shutting down flowering and canola has funny colour in places. Soy loves the heat and has finally started to fix nitrogen and flax is still thin. Then Balgonie to Regina you see the thin areas are not coming and Canola leaves are covering their heads.
Regina is going to water rationing this week with old Odd day water even get a fine.

As you go west the real drought starts and Heat warnings are out again for the SW.

So will today be all hype or will a meaning full rain actually happen. It seems its the same looks Awesome on radar has a few mm.

After this run for the border rain event is over were back in the 30 to 33 temps.

Time will tell who wins the Lotto Max but so far its starting to get dry out their.

Oh and Today the USA weather service is saying Iowa will hit temps of over a 100 later in the week. Corn just loves weather like that. Second crop Beans on Wheat stubble look like they could be a shit show this year. Seeded late June.

U.S. corn futures rose more than 1.5 percent early Monday to hit a one-year high as forecasts for soaring temperatures raised fears of potential crop losses, reports Reuters
Soybeans rose as much 2 percent as fears of adverse weather pushed prices to a four-month high, while wheat rose more than 2 percent, rebounding from two straight daily losses.

Conditions for Australian crops have deteriorated so much that there is growing talk that the wheat harvest may fall below 20 million tonnes – a plunge of more than 40% from last year's record high.

****seed/canola production prospects have deteriorated in key countries, says Oil World. It now sees world exports shrinking by 1.0 million tonnes to 15.4 million in July/June 2017/18.

5 to 7 days of flowering then the flowers are turning white.....the canola around here is running out of gas.....but guys are still protecting it with spray....fungicides are now not for disease .... they are for stress protection. ....wtf....no roi for fungicide if it's hot and dry....

Wheat has the blue color....groceries for 45bpa. .....20 tops now if it rains.

It seems there is no drought making media headlines but my guess is we are going to be worse off than 88 in the end.

Well when its on the news tonight that Due to drought Regina will start Water Rationing for city people. I think its going to start.

BC Wildfires I guess they are burning because its so wet.

F$%King useless media in this country. But if it was about JT and his socks oh its makes headlines.

Soil is starting to get a little stingy with the water
received one and a half mm of rain. Peak crop use is 5.6-7.6 mm in the 20-35 degree C range
I guess we'll be okay till noon...

Intend to start spraying and disking ruts and willows on low and wet land that has been out of production the past few years.
Notice that rented land tends to be neglected in this regard.

Australian crop comments spot on seemingly below average to poor in some parts could be 40 to even 50% of cropping area rest is say just average. Rains are happening but reality is that its arresting the yield slide rather than adding bushels if that makes sense. Our spot we are currently blessed with normal crops and rainfall not above average just how they should look this time of year

Strike two, sitting in a f$&king weather warning all day severe at one time and sweet F#%k all. Over and under.

Today is the last chance and then it's down hill because the next week is 30 plus again.

                      Mother Nature picks winners again.

I don't think we can take another week with heat and wind without major damage.

                            Not a drop here....
With the temperatures forecast for end of the week that'll be the end of decent looking crop.
Can only run on subsoil moisture for so long in that heat.

So far for July two one tenth rains Sat and Sun and last week Monday. I forgot about that one so yes 3 1/10 rains in July. Lots of sub soil but you can start to spot the sand spots on certain fields and the ridge is getting close to calling it a year. But the sloughs are disappearing fast.
