Don't want the truth to come out??? Just use Canadian taxpayers own money to hide away the truth that will hurt you politically. No court case,,,,,no questions get asked, no answers given !
Cover up the story with 10.5 mil, then tell Canadians it could have cost us even more, make'm feel good while they're getting ****ed ! The Liberal way.

And we are surprised by this?

Completely normal, mentally deficient process for the anti-Western, white-hating psychosis of today's Liberal.

Both the Liberals and Conservatives bungled this by ignoring Canadian law for political reasons. The Supreme court ruled in favour of Khadr and said his constitutional rights had been violated. Does anyone really think the Supreme court was going to change its rulings?

There were also compensation payouts to former Gitmo detainees in Britain and Australia.

The way this story has been covered in the main stream media it is no wonder many Canadians are misinformed about the legal case for and against Kahdr.

I am not in favour of demonizing children who were taken by their parents at the age of 10 to become a militant in a war. Kahdr fits the definition of a Child Soldier under international law.

Check out what Retired General Romeo Dallaire says about Child Soldiers before you rush to condemn Kahdr.

Previous governments should be ‘held accountable’ for Khadr situation: Dallaire
        Romeo Dallaire

        Ted Raymond, Newstalk 580 CFRA
        Published Tuesday, July 11, 2017 6:18PM EDT

Retired Lieutenant-General and Senator Roméo Dallaire says if Omar Khadr had been repatriated as soon as possible, his rights could have been protected.

Dallaire is responding to reports that a majority of Canadians disagree with the Liberal government's apology and reported $10.5 million payout to the former Guantanamo Bay prisoner.

Dallaire tells Newstalk 580 CFRA’s Ottawa Now with Evan Solomon that, for him, the issue is not about the money.

“What I am really turned off about is that people have lost sight of the fact that we took a kid and let him rot there [in Guantanamo Bay] and we don’t want to recognize the facts of the case,” he said.

LISTEN NOW: Former General speaks up about the apology to Omar Khadr

Dallaire has worked to eliminate the use of child soldiers, and used that exact phrase to describe the Toronto-born Khadr, who was 15 years old when he was first imprisoned in 2002.

Critics contend that Khadr was not a child soldier, because the United Nations’ Conventions on the Rights of the Child, Article 38, proclaims “States Parties shall take all feasible measures to ensure that persons who have not attained the age of fifteen years do not take a direct part in hostilities,” and Khadr was already 15 at the time.

But Dallaire says Khadr was still a child, caught up in circumstances beyond his control.

“Yes, he was building IEDs. He didn’t volunteer to go over there,” Dallaire said. “[His father] pushed him into a program in which he’s doing that. How many eleven-, twelve-, thirteen-, fourteen-year-olds are going to take on their father under such circumstances?

“We hate the politics of his family. I’ve got no time for them, and they’re the ones who are to be really held accountable for creating this child soldier.”

Dallaire says previous governments refused the opportunity to repatriate Khadr and he believes they should be held accountable for that.

“Given the opportunity to solve the problem, as the Brits and the Australians did, by bringing him home and taking care of him, there wouldn’t have been the 10 million bucks,” Dallaire said. “There wouldn’t have been any of this stuff and maybe we wouldn’t have worries about his future because he’s been through all this trauma. If we had acted appropriately, we would not have this.”

When pressed to comment on the reported payment, Dallaire asked the question, “How much is ten years of your life worth? How much is your future destroyed life worth? How can you put a dollar figure on it?”

Solomon replied by saying if Stephen or Laureen Harper were on the phone, they’d ask, “How much is the life of Special Forces medic Christopher Speer worth?”

Speer is the soldier who was killed in 2002 by a grenade that Khadr, in 2010, admitted to throwing. He has since launched an appeal of that conviction, arguing he only pleaded guilty in order to secure his return to Canada.

When asked about Speer, Dallaire said his death was “absolutely terrible” but also said death on the battlefield is a risk all soldiers face.

“He was a special forces professional soldier and, in war time, professional soldiers die and child soldiers die,” Dallaire said. “That that soldier died I think is absolutely terrible. That Omar Khadr had two bullets in him and nearly died, I think that was terrible, too. But what cannot be fiddled with is the fact that, when we commit ourselves to these missions, we commit ourselves to the unlimited liability of the possibility of dying.

“It is still horrific. It is still terrible for families, and it’s a sacrifice that nobody should have to pay. But we do because governments and organizations simply can’t find solutions to the frictions that have created so many of the conflicts today.”

You would be wrong again chucky. You ignore that fact that when a Canadian takes up arms against his country or its allies, it is considered treason.

The American medics saved his life regardless.

But that's okay - we're tolerant, LOL! Nobody is going to build and place an IED in your driveway because we differ in opinions.

As sofa.king pointed out - there is a difference between legality and morality.

The courts decision was immoral at least, and ignored other law, at worst.

That is why the french trud should not have settled, but rather let it run its course through the court system. (This begs the question - why was sock-boy in such a hurry to settle? What is he trying to hide?)

The terrorist said he has changed - well then, let him demonstrate that by giving his ill-gotten windfall to the widow and fatherless for whom he is self-admittedly responsible.

Yes, the supreme court was morally wrong, and perhaps legally out of bounds as well, taking into consideration all applicable laws.

I have NO respect for our Supreme court...making laws out of their interpretation. Usually wrong, unelected patronage appointments...sad
Agree, he committed TREASON fighting against US... no longer a Canadian...no case, no responsibility on our part!

Goodale and Chrétien brought Kadr senior brought back to Canada from a Pakistan prison to have more terrorist kids.
Omar murders American medic, makes IED explosives that killed allied forces including 149 Canadians.
Goodale doesn't want his role in early dealings to come to light so him and sock boy do an "overnight" payment to the terrorist. This screws over a grieving widow who will not be able to recover this money now.

Nowhere was it stated that Justin had to apologize to Kadr or pay Kadr a dime.....this was on his and Goodale's own doing for political reasons.

His political motives appear that they could backfire in this instance as maybe there isn't the Jihad/terrorist support they thought they had??

All the wrong doing and injustices done to Khadr, that the SCoC found fault with, took place while the Liberal's were in power under the leadership of Chrétien and Martin governments that Ralph Goodale was actively involved with.
In actuality, the SCoC found no fault with how the Harper government dealt with Khadr's case and the speed it took to return him to Canada.

Khadr had one hand around trudeau's ball's, the other was around Goodale's, and Khadr was squeezing and pulling. Everyone knows what the SCoC stated in their ruling, even Khadr's lawyers. I'd say it was likely blackmail,,, trudeau, give us 10 million or we'll go to court and make it very public how I was treated under Liberal government's at the time.
trudeau likely said, we'll give you the 10 mil, and through in an extra $500,000, plus we'll give you a public apology to boot,,, just keep your ****ing mouth shut,,, in fact get things setup and we'll pay you out quick so the Americans can't get their hands on it, sound fair.

Khadr's payout is tax free, is there any reason why Khadr can't gift his lawyer's 5 or 6 million tax free as well? After all, they're practically family as he's been living with them.

And that's why they lost in every court. The government ****ed up, no matter how angry this makes everyone, including myself, they shouldn't have left a 15 year old Canadian in GB.

None of that matters, its what the Canadian government did. Exactly as Romeo said.

If all justices take minutes to decide a unanimous decision, you know you are screwed - or at least should. Innocent until proven guilty, that pesky little thing.
