Big wheel your so full of shit it's not funny. Where have I ever dised on other farmers. Yes the idiots who ran broad ass farms but not real farmers. I have always stuck for farmers. Shit happens I understand but yesterday showed that this crop is going backwards and won't make much now that the rain hasn't come. Stating a fact.

I'm the guy who makes sure all are done at harvest and lend a hand. Do you.

It's western canada I get that shit happens and usually it's the hardest place in the world to grow a crop.

This year we have been given no rain. Some of you don't get that sub moisture from all the wet years took the crop till Monday. Yes big leaves because it's fed and all that nitrogen that leached down was getting tapped by deep roots. But finally yesterday the crop hit the wall and if any of you watch plants and understand how a crop grows it hit the fence yesterday.

So yea I complain it's like watching a accident happening in slow motion. You know when it finally hits the wall it's going to suck big time.

But I can't believe all the haters out their, low life trolls who make up shit. Your the ones who need to look in the mirror.

Karma is a bitch remember that.

But I can see my skin isn't as thick as I thought it was. I could never be a politician.

I just wanted to share what's happening on average farms, that's all, farming isn't easy, it never was and Mother Nature runs things. No matter how hard you work or try she picks winners and losers.

So keep the put downs going. Why not it makes you feel good.

Good post Jagfarms. I've read previous articles on that too and it's the one thing that scares me and makes me doubt the wisdom of me moving to Canada. If i'd read it before I'd moved I probably wouldn't have. Always live in fear of drought here.

Frost in 2002 wasn't as bad as the 2004. Even if it was early it only really got the flat land. We shipped all wheat to Manitoba to blend with bad Fuz. Got a 2. But 2004 got every acre and no blending in Manitoba.

Agreed. And it only took some 3 months into the growing season to realize it.

Rainfall at my yard (May 12mm, June 40mm, July 0mm, Total 52mm)
Thankful for the 26mm at the end of June. It came too late.
After the weekend, you didn't need to look hard to see the crops were suffering.
Like dad said "There is only an inch of rain difference between a good farmer and a poor farmer."
It will be interesting to see how much difference that 26 mm makes.
A half mile down the road, we only had 8mm.
It doesn't look like there is any relief in site.
I was hoping the smoke would have hung around for a few weeks.

Lots a drama here! Here is what I see. I picked a couple things up from Ritchie site at regina yesterday, drove from calgary down hwy 1 there and then back through Kenaston and over to Hanna on way back to Didsbury.

Most areas are the same drowned out patches from spring and dry thin stands since. Most have uneven height, maturity and thickness. I didn't see anything that should be abandoned but most areas will have significant yield impact. Best area was around Craigmyle to Linden, really nice there above average. Kindersley and Rosetown areas look good also. Worst area is in between the good ones. Sibbald Oyen Youngstown looks real bad.

Avg canola yields will be way down no question. Guessing wheat acres are lower than reported, yield down but not sure how much. Barley burnt on top and uneven think most will not make malt. Lots of lentils and peas, look good but I don't really know. Lots of soy beans some look good but lots don't, the fields we looked at haven't flowered yet so wonder about maturity but again don't know what I'm talking about.

Bottom line is with a few exceptions it's a pretty big area that's in the same boat of being dry and below average.

I'm SW of oyen. We picked up a very fortunate 8/10ths the very end of June that further north around Cereal did not get. They are going on 40 days since any significant moisture in that band from Youngstown to Alsask aside from the occasional lottery shower. July has not been kind. 16 day FGS model has only 3 or 4 days below 85. At this point i'll concede defeat on my soybeans and try again next year, but the rest of my stuff has decided what it's going to be and all we can ask for now is decent harvest weather.
