    New party in Alberta

4 years of NDP in Alberta may end up being what as needed for a wake up call for the right.kind of harsh but needed.Sask will be next.

I see their new interim leader is a chip off the old redneck block. So much for "big tent inclusiveness" of the new party on the right.

Doesn't matter the only way to keep the NDP out is quit splitting the votes. Its rather easy math.

Moot point. Too much ego involved here from both sides. New party will implode from inside. As a WR member I voted against the floor crossing. Didn't work last time, won't work this time. I'm not supporting any party again at any level. The NDP could win again because of the strong urban support and if oil prices recover they'll win for sure.

Never heard of the sacrificial interim leader. So he's a Sunday morning radio bible thumper. Big damn deal.
Certainly dont trust any after the floor crossing. Like Jean. Kenney more sellable to urban.
And ya, bigger city and union voters carry it anyway, but just maybe, the carbon tax extravaganza could sink it.
Ever wonder if some arent jealous of 'rednecks'?

NDP is mathematically done in Alberta and will face a beat down of epic proportions.

The only question is what will they try to pull off prior to the next election when the voters get to vote on how they like the carbon tax.....

Oliver, the neat trick is that the carbon tax is virtually invisible and with gas at 92 cents a l. at the pumps no one is complaining. And on my power bill not a trace of it because it is paid by the generators and disappears in the wholesale price. I'm more worked up over my cable and internet bill jumping up $10 in one month. And no competition to boot. Providers are like gas stations - they all raise their prices in unison. The bastards!!!

Kenney more big hat party appeal than Jean. Who knows what the Bible Belt will do. Could see a splinter party forming but that's their democratic right and that's maybe a boon for urban conservative support as they may see the radical bible punchers won't be associated with them. This whole fiasco resulted from an incompetent liberal party not providing a reasonable opposition back in the day. It gave the conservatives too much rope to eventually hang themselves.

You like paying a carbon tax on your farm do you and get more worked up over your internet/cable bill?

Sounds like you might need to review your expenses.

Nathan Cooper is our MLA, prior to that worked for Bruce Rowe's office when he was MLA. I've met with him a couple times and been to a few info sessions he has hosted.

He is young but very eager in the politics world. Pretty down to earth guy, typical party bs but I think is level headed enough to think for himself. He will do fine. I expect to see him go places in his career.

The ndp just grasping at straws, pathetic as always, the anti gay crap was 8 yrs ago when he interviewed a fellow on his radio show at the time in a different job. Really frustrating to me that they call for him to step down over that and also one of Jean's first official comments was about how Kenney didn't attend gay pride events so that makes him a better choice. If gay rights is our one big political issue that's gonna sway the most votes give me a break.

Infrastructure, economy, education, social programs, taxes, administration, government assets, laws, policing. The list is endless of things that affect us all, but wait a minute let's worry if you've forgotten to paint the ****in side walk rainbow colors in front of the constituency office!

GDR, all good points. The NDP will do everything to make the next election about social issues instead of economic issues because they know they will lose big time if the election is about the economy. The chirping about Nathan Cooper by the NDP and in particular Sarah Hoffman is without merit and makes them look desperate. As for the choice between Jean and Kenney, I have yet to talk to someone who likes Kenney.
