Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Got 300 bales put up this afternoon and it was dry. Back into some decent hay after making 400 ugly bales from stuff that got two inches of rain when it was almost dry. 25 feet of swath would hardly fit under the tractor and were kicking a bale out in 60 seconds. Down to 500 acres and the end is in sight and the weather is starting to look better.

Saskatoon to canora on 16 highway crops don't look that great some good some WTF some F$&k. I was thinking it would be better. Foam lake is where it really changes for better.

You should venture west a bit more .
Some areas are still at less than 1 in since May . Some still very little rain for over 6 weeks . Crop was done 2-3 weeks ago . Still consider your self lucky you at least will have something. Some will get less than 10 bus average across the board on the south . And crops in the Meadow Lake west area have been drowned out for two months

The dry area is large this year, with still several flooded out regions.

Saw barley samples that were coming off this week. Not new crop either.

Some mixed farmers here are cutting and chopping/baling grain fields that would probably have been combined if the hay crops were any good.

Not a pile but some....those cattle need to eat and pastures are dismal. Guys are concerned they may have to start feeding way WAY earlier than they want to.

What a summer! What does rain smell like again?

Just got off the sprayer...diquat on peas. Had to start after supper....to hot and SUNNY any earlier. Still not good conditions for that type of desiccant.....you work with what you're given.

The neighbor here has been feeding in the pasture since early July.

We never apply diquat much before dark. Way better results.

Have not had recent experience with heat and drought effect on canola yields.
Most of our fields look to have half or a little better stand than past few years.
Still looking for half last year yield on earlier seeded fields.
