Here is a simple example of why environmental issues are so important. In Newfoundland when the Cod ran out because of over fishing, John Crosby put 50000 fishermen and others out of work when he closed it down. Environmentalists and scientists were sounding the alarm.

We should be managing resources, the environment and the planet in a sustainable way.

If the wealth is created and earned by legal means, and for the kind of risk I assume earning it why can't I squirrel a pile, or a bit, of it away from the taxman. For ****'s sake whether in an active Business Corp, a HoldCo, a RRSP, TFSA....its all accounted for! They know where it is! Tax the **** out of good hard working honest people and end up creating and underground economy or instead of letting the people who created their own wealth keep most of it....spread it around to slackers and create a whole ****ing welfare state. ....kind of a twisted "dog in the manger" attitude...."I don't want to earn mine but I don't want you to have what you earned either!"

Chicky the cod fishery was destroyed because the govt allowed foreign fish trollers to come in and take as much of the fish as they wanted that is why they had to close the fishery. Kinda the same way the govt allowed feed processors to grind up cows to feed back to cows hence the bse **** up. Overfishing no matter the reason is still overfishing. The solution is to manage and protect the resource would you not agree? Or do you believe that unlimited resource development should be allowed to happen no matter the consequences? It seems that the thinking on this site is that any concern for the environment wrong and only jobs and the economy matter. I just gave an example with the cod that shows clearly that they are linked.

Seriously! It was overfishing! The seals and polar bears were there long before humans. If they were the problem how was it the Grand Banks were full of fish at the time of human discovery?
