    Carbon tax

Carbon tax: on the bill for rail freight Alberta and BC each impose a carbon tax on an average car it is about 33$, or for 100 unit shipment it will be over 3000$ paid in carbon tax, multiplied over the whole crop a sizable tax drain.

Rail is most environmentally efficient method of shipping grain. Given the application of the formula on rail freight, (seriously this is the best way to ship for the environment) should carbon tax formulas be levied where:
1/ we have no other method (land locked customers)
2/ rail is the most environmentally friendly mode of transport.

Pennies per tonne, perhaps, but aggregated a decent sum: in the larger national view Federal application of this formula, should reconsider this application of an environmental tax. Surely someone in Ottawa needs to recalculate the carbon tax formula, the reason for application, and note in so doing the balance of trade from land locked Agriculture using rail to get to markets as a vital segment to our national economy.

    Go figure!

Part of reason we are paying for high though put elevators is that it is more cost (fuel) efficient to load unit trains. Elev get $8/tonne bonus for 100 car loading. Pass that back to farmers or use some of it to pay tax.

Guess who gets passed the bill ..... the farmer
No one in industry or rail will actually have to pay it - it will cost the farmer and consumer
Maybe the buckle will drop in some of these boneheads that support this shit carbon tax when they have zero disposable income left .
All to pay a bogus scam that will cost big industry zero who are the main pollutants

I have no doubt that the GST will be raised regardless. Also expect PST in Alberta no matter who the next government is - TOO MUCH DEBT.
