Frost Concern Forms in Northern Corn Belt!

Yes were pushing this crop but is any one else surprised how cold it gets and fast it cools down after supper each and every night lately. Yesterday the wind wound up and it was a cold NW wind.

Yes the experts say no frost in August but some fields a sept frost would hurt. Flowering late canola or pods not filled or mush yet. Soy also.

For the first time in several years, frost concern is a part of growers' thinking as the season moves into its final phases, says DTN meteorologist Bryce Anderson.
The issue is not necessarily with early frost potential -- forecast maps do not suggest that -- but with corn and soybean maturity being delayed enough that even an average first frost might still be too early for crops to reach full maturity.
Upper-air forecast maps through the end of Aug. show no cold air pooling in northern North America. But there's still the entire month of Sept. for producer concern.
