Braveheart, yes first nations peoples have suffered immensely but there comes a time when they must make more of an effort better themselves. The first thing they must do is hold their chiefs and councils more accountable. Where are the billions going each year?

From what I understand the people of Crimea want out of the control of Ukraine. They are historically Russians, and after the US did their regime change in Ukraine and put in their puppet man the Crimeans said enough we want out and then the civil war started.

Today, August 23, is Black Ribbon Day to commemorate the victims of Nazi and Soviet Communist crimes.

Ah Russia - masters of propaganda. Something to keep in mind when trying to make sense of our own issues.

Maybe propaganda is already happening - something learned from 'the masters'?

Canada’s farmers also suffered as a direct result of Stalin’s Five-Year Plan, the grain that was exported from Ukraine’s rich soil into western markets undercut the cost of grain making it difficult for Canadian farmers to competitively sell their grain at cost. Given that this was during the Great Depression (1929- late 1930's) this further incapacitated Canadian farmers.
