Some barley combined in area, some canola swathed, just getting to proper stage. Neighbor's barley testing 19%, wet yield on scale 92.7bu/acre heavy Copeland. Another 6 row yield about 70 bu/acre.

It produced the seeds that's all.

Will see on rest of fields

      Barley harvest starts today

Doesn't it produce seed every year? Or only in dry years? Perplexing.

Sk crop report, 1-2% N of # 16, way more where Dry and Warm, that is a plus for those 13-49% combined. We wait and hope....for rain to stay away. Oh wait a shower/humidity on canola swaths is very helpful...only those fields please...
          Keep at it where combining.

Later seeded barley is better and plumper. Will it make malt that is the question.

Shit will hit the fan this winter when the bins are empty. Contracts have to filled this fall and for some it won't leave much in the bin once filled minus seed. 13 bu lentil crop and 10 bu contracted leaves enough left for a bottle of spiced rum.
Funny how traders/grain companies only want to talk about the "good" areas. Next they will telling us is the prices of today have included the drought premium. $8 peas really??
But, don't forget to book your fert when you haul in your contracts.
The bins will be rattling in the wind. Contracts pre-sell about 1/2 of an average yield, many must be shipped Sept/Oct. After that, watch the action! Only my prediction - not worth much from Sumdumguy😀

Louis Dreyfus rep says they are pretty much doing away with protein premium anyways so don't worry about it boys!!

We are far enough into the canola to say WOW, I didn't think it was that bad, lol(over dramatization). Actually at this point less than half of last year's yield and even quite a bit less than an average yield. Very fine too. Halloween canola.... orange and black...scary! Rolling some distinctly green but they likely wouldn't cure out anyway like the lime ones would.... but still not too bad. Better safe in my bin than having scattered swaths because of some freak ****ing hurricane wind.... light poorly anchored swaths are prone to moving.... lived it before and don't like it.... so harvest on!

Hmmm, how much storage do I have. Actually better think price for this year versus next year..... but I haven't found anyone with a working crystal ball yet. I am saving myself the frustration of having my grain looked at.... so I actually don't know what my HRS Px is. Px above a certain level(15-15.5 ?) is stolen anyway.

Pretty sure its only dry years

In other words, it really wasn't dry, otherwise protein would have been high.

Tweety then using your theory why did we have high protein last year and the year before and the year before that on wheat. I guess we were dry those years and flooding like history in USA just didn't happen.

What a fine blocking pattern that again now that it's harvest has stayed working. No rain last night harvest on. Ah after harvest I hope it finally breaks and allows something before freeze up
