I guess a six and a half percent increase on an already reasonable municipal tax rate didn't catch my attention at first glance....but the school tax increase is kind of steep.
It sounds like some RM's have a council spending like drunken sailors if its going up 15-30%.

Our best "assessed" is 196700 and this year's municipal tax is $355.93 and school tax is $154.70. And is all down hill from there for assessments.

Assessments are guides only! No one knows the land better than local residents. I can tell you fj, I have some stuff I wished I didn't have and more of some other stuff I have, but that's everybody. We're kinda rolling and high and dry....hill tops can be stingy. Some bad sand patches...but if there are patches of sand you know what the basic soil texture is of that land. We have a mixed bag of tricks here and I've seen alot better and alot worse....but farming it is all I know. I know it's limitations, it's strong points and it's weaknesses....I just accept it for what it is!
And I've warned the apprentice too! No sense lying to the kid. He saw a really good one in 16 and a couple of poor ones on either side....good reality check!Last edited by farmaholic; Aug 31, 2017, 21:08.
