I would try to add knives, fingers, separation bars to the rotor. More rotor speed.

Furrow brings up the wind risk in a different tread as well. Next Wednesday/Thursday looks like a change in weather for our area. About a ten degree temp drop. And who knows maybe a big wind preceding it..... just hate to see swaths scattered...mitigate the risk.

I took ours with more green count than I would have liked to but it was testing seven and had no rain since it was combined....its safe in the bin and has been aerated.

CGC results:

Sample #1...0.6 distinctly green (I guess I grade tougher), 1.1%
dockage. 45.6% oil, chlorophyll 6.4 mg/kg.

Sample #2...1.0 distinctly green, 1.5% dockage. 42.2% oil, chlorophyll 16.7 mg/kg.

I guess I managed it good enough. Swathing timing was tricky...

I had higher dockage with the seives I used.... I think they are required to use a size that saves the most canola. I used a 6.5 round hole and .38 slot. Must have shook it too hard...lol.

You used the slotted sieve that reduces the conspicuous admix to grade tolerance start with an 028 and go up as needed. Most elev just use 038 or 040 unless you watch them and make them do it right.

Well we got to 40% yesterday as the wheat harvest continues.

Some are talking canola is 5.5 moisture thats a money loser. Were hoping for a rain next week a big rain and then combine at 11 or ten. We have lost more canola over the years to harvesting in hot idiotic hot harvesting than wet.

Some are going all night and sleeping in the day.

Bags cool nice in a few days.

So its real early hell its first week of September going into second.

Its not Nov 26th like last year. Plus big iron starts tomorrow and like the Americans you need your hrs done and now you wait for soy and corn so you can attend the show.

Better hope you don't get 80-100 km winds when this weather changes .
I have seen first hand entire fields with swaths almost gone. Lost a lot more than harvesting at 5% .
Your right it's not ideal but neither is losing the crop entirely while waiting for ideal conditions.
There are thunder storms predicted tonight and we have seen hail loss of 50% or more this time of year.
It's all a gamble lol
If we had wheat left we would be on that but not sitting idle waiting for perfect .... short term memory happens. A lot of guys did that last fall around here then we had a foot of snow for a month .
Canola can be monitored when in the bin , but left out it's still mother natures

You have too much money in the bank if the combine is sitting when a crop is ready to harvest or you just started farming maybe.

Who the **** said the combine was sitting.
More like too much money if you don't mind leaving $30 to $40/acre behind your combine.

But, how long you gonna wait for rain? I think I would rather have over-dry grain in the bin, safe and sound, but who knows, maybe patience will pay off. As for hot Canola, that's why every bin is equipped with aeration.

Its all going to end come Thursday as a cold front and the hurricane have finally got rid of the blocking pattern. Rain will get most areas.

Dryer is ready if needed for Canola we will do what fields we can before it hits then mix.

Well farmaholic I guess that could happen or it could dump two feet of snow day after tomorrow too. I've seen all those things and more but I've never seen canola with concave set for wheat and rotor there too and still putting full pods in tank and out the back end I tried everything I could think of as far as setting the combine ( even slowing down) and still poor results. I'm seeing pods split end wise with the membrane hanging loose and still seeds in both halves of the pods. And by the way before someone accuses me of being incapable of setting a combine ( that may be true)I would like to say I am not alone. Looking for ideas and have talked to neighbors and relatives with different coloured combines and all say the same.

We spent more time this year doing weigh-offs between combines and re-setting than we ever have. It has been a tough year.
