If we were paid for canola on the basis of oil content, we would get a bonus for overdry.
Government regulated maximum moisture levels go back a long time ago, before modern tests.

Yes it's dry..but way more fun than a mud bowl..crop damage was done a month or more ago..get it off before it changes..it will change.
Sell the swather! Shit cost me 20 bu /acre x$10 x your acres=$$$$$😳😩

Our damage was early June floods! Costs as much as hot July

I agree the canola here won't set record yields but that's because of wet spring and has nothing to do with the hot summer. We had lots of water down below that the crop did not get.

It's so dry I just finished 80ac of soybeans and didn't fill a 3ton. Somebody made a killing off those things... sure wasn't me!

With soybean's moisture requirements, I'm still not convinced they are a crop for our area. The wet spell of the past several years may have given some growers false hope/sense of security. Klause said it well...do you think soybeans are a crop to grow in lentil country? Grow both the same year...surely one of them will do alright.

Almost all the soybeans around here suffered the same fate so they won't need a semi in the field. Just needed rain badly.

It's so dry that the grain merchandiser's have started coming up with new stories to talk the price of grain down. Such as canola no longer requires moisture to grow a bumper crop, growing 47 bu/acre with no rain and +30 all summer.

Maybe we can companion-crop for insurance.
