Well its 42 days since the last rain and before that it was some thing like 45 days and before that June 14th.
Wow is it dry. Way to dry for this time of year. But it has one positive all flat useless wasted sloughs are gone. Literally gone. I even swath the land i took over from the one BTO to the east and its back to almost end to end only two sloughs on a section. So yes their is a positive.

Funny weather this year real funny.

But some thing thats not funny is our Useless PM and his Useless tax plan. Wow Lets kill small business because were the root of all the problems in Canada. Is this man Brain Damaged really you have to ask. He comes from a Trust fund family doesn't have to work and our stupid country elected him so now he flys around the world on our dime and pisses away Billions to every tom dick and Harry around the Globe. But at home BC Burns and Canadians Vets get shit on, etc etc etc.

But the Genius if he does do whats being talked about Drs will leave, why would you want to stay here when Drs are needed all over USA. Even signing bonuses. This plan will make accountants rich but also this plan will take down farms. But for me as a farmer its the way he is going to kill family farms. Its all about the Money and watch where it is going to go. Its designed to help his friends in China and around the world get our land. See under the new rules selling or giving land to your children is a Bad thing oh you bad bad bad tax cheater. But selling to a Company other than your kids is a good thing. Lets see best price comes from Chinese of Ontario pension plan or Hell Canada pension plan. Basically you pay million on a sale if you sell to these to the gov. If you sell to your kids or give it to them to continue on as a farmer you have to send Ottawa 3 mill to allow this to happen. Think about it and follow the money. Their is a huge pay day for foreigners to own Sask. land. Those who voted for this idiot must be so impressed with their choice. First one attacked the west and brought us down to our knees the second Trudeau may just about destroy us all.

    Like father like son.

Well for a while the Friday Crop Report will continue as I for one am getting real sick of This Country We Call Canada the Greatest Country in the World. Not great for people trying to get ahead. My grandfathers left Europe for Land so they didn't have to be Serfs well history is going to repeat itself.

Discusted is all i can say.

We got to 55% done last night.

Hrs is all in the bag and for the first time in our farms history every single Bushel is same Grade and all Red as Red and Heavy as can be. Not one shower on it and strait harvesting no days off to get it all in the Bags and Bins. Yields turned out real nice. But their were Awesome and some Wow WTF happened here.

Peas are all done in area and most sold.

Oats most guys are done and its all over the board from 55 to 122. Not a year for oats lighter also.

Barley is all harvested in the area and most early and mid is excepted for malt. Mid weights better and had better yield. Late late is light and didn't make it.

Flax is not a very good crop this year in our area. Most is almost done harvesting or just into it.

Soy some early fields are done harvesting with yields in low 20s nothing real great but no rain in Pod fill time. Later fields will be started next week.

Canola the wonder crop that we pay so much for seed that has awesome genetics in it BLAH BLAH BLAH. Well if the early stuff is what we have Wow what a Shitty Crop 2017 will turn out to be. Right now the early is running 48% below our 5 year average. Funny thing is the stuff is so dry setting the combines is tough. Slowing drivers down is easy theirs a app for that. But it seems the Heat did take yield and No Rain all July didn't help either. Hopefully this week we will get into some better stuff to bring up the average but for right now Disappointed is all i can say. Oh to all the big hitters out their answer me this. How come when you fly over from Say Regina to Calgary to Winterpeg. Grain bags other years were every where, Now you have to look to find one. Plus yes guys have built big bins but big shiny bins are that shinny from the air and wouldn't you be able to spot them. Oh i guess most have the new Grain bin. Under ground storage tanks. I for one think the crop isn't as big as the experts and companies want us to believe. Funny Twitter Facebook Combine forum etc etc no one is Bragging like last 10 years. My Canola went 55 no mine went 60 no mine went 65 hell your all shitty farmers mine went 77, well I'm the Canola king i got 100. So I'm sticking to the 16.9 mt. total production. Something is not adding up.

Pastures are really getting to the point they needed a rain a month ago. Lots of bales all over the place on Barley and oats and wheat straw.

Well thats the crop report hope others are having a nice harvest, safe harvest, 2018 here we come hopefully it rains this fall as for us reserve moisture is used up and were just like the rest now. Except extra acreage will happen in 2018 with all the sloughs and flats back in production. Those areas will grow a crop in 2018 the rest not unless it rains.

Be safe and remember its just a crop that they will take and pay you pennies on the dollar. The ones at home are way more important than any crop.

Sask3, agree 100% on our Prime Minister but you forgot that last years Christmas holiday cost 215K not 125K as reported earlier, he truly is just an image with no brains behind it.

Anyway a few thoughts on my central Alberta harvest. Yellow peas, binned about 52 bushels to the acre, down from the last 2 years both of which averaged 60 bpa. As for barley, didn't grow any malt this year, just feed barley, binned about 72 bpa down a bit from last years 78 bpa and 2 years ago 85. There were some better barley crops in the area and some worse, areas to wet in the spring cost a lot of bushels. As for wheat, only grew 2 varieties Brandon and Penhold. The hard red yielded 58 bpa which wasn't to bad considering one field had hail damage, considering the year I was happy. The CPS Penhold, not sure what to think of this wheat, I had better luck with the Foremost that it replaced. Averaged about 62 bpa, down from 75 last year and 82 the year before. Penhold stands nice but 2 years of growing it not that impressed. As for canola just got started, 4 rounds around the first field. No opinion yet, it will be interesting, this is the first time I have left some standing to straight cut, almost half. As for neighbors canola seems to be running 40-50 bpa, down from 55-60 last year. Pastures have been done for weeks with some guys having hauled all their cattle home, in my case feeding some grain on pasture to hopefully hold them for a week or two. Rained the last 2 days, about 8/10 so far, first rain since late July, nice to see. In closing yields certainly down from last year, heard a few reports of low protein wheat, haven't got my samples to the elevator yet but as Sask3 said nice dark red wheat but for me certainly less of it. As for Canola certainly less than 17 mmt. Enjoy your day:-)

Most cereals are done here or close to being done .
Canola all over the map depending on seeding date , too dry , too tough , some combined 7 days after swathing , some down 2 weeks with some green , some straight cut with near zero green , some with 5% green . A lot was very dry but good with zero green . Very wet areas at seeding yields are disappointing. Well established and well rooted canola did very well considering dryness in areas.
So ya it's all over the map lol
Peas , lentils done yields 30% below ave .
Near zero sub soil moisture left . Latest rains most stayed west of HWY 4 north of North Battleford and south of HWY 16 going east .... same pattern as June / July .
Crop quality very good as most areas
Areas 25 miles west and north are at 50% or less done , from HWY 4 east it's 75% or more completed. But then again that just the rain fall pattern and seeding dates that dictated that this spring and summer.
Yields here have been average to slightly above on good land to below to well below on poor land . Also huge differences where the odd shower went through areas here that were dry.
West and north , some yields are huge depending on how wet it was at seeding time .
Other variables were hail and bug damage.
Interesting to see some guys hauling super B after super B late at night after the elevator is "closed" . Not sure WTF that is about but the neighbourhood is sure buzzing about it .
Overall this area is a mixed bag of surprising yields and disappointments .
Much the same as last year . But we have had a good long dry stretch harvest weather with the best looking dry wheat the elevators have seen .
Some canola was too dry but it is what it is this year .
We are at 80% done with just some canola left and one field of soybeans .
But we will most likely be one of the last to finish as we have a field that the peas had bad fusarium root rot and reseeded to canola on June 12th . Not ideal but it close to swathing and it actually is a heavy looking crop . Might be mid October before we get that one lol

Trudeau's little jaunt $215 not $125, they just got the numbers mixed up. Let's try that when filling out our income tax.

Our great country could very quickly turn into not so greatbut don't worry-be happy, it will be future generations that will deal with the mess and pay the tax to cover more and more "security".

Sk3 you are a hard taskmaster, do your kids have to bow to the conservative gods, and spit on the treadu statue every day. Oh well at least you haven't raged on Rachel lately. This tax grab as you play it is the same as going to happen to glyo because people are not using as intended, but blame it on the political party you dislike the most.

your boy in Ottawa is insane really the selfie kind doesn't have a grasp on reality. When they said brains he was lined up for trains.

JT is going after farmers and going hard it's not about cheating the tax man the Liberals have that down to a science.

Wow some supporters of th liberals and Ndps just don't get reality.

Liberal mp Wayne easter even came out swinging against the new tax plan saying it's a bad deal and will hurt many people. Hopefully more of these rats will abandon the sinking ship before Justin and bill wreck this country.

People are fed up with all the spin and bullsht that politicians do.

4G think real hard remember the NDP yea let's vote them in again. Rats leaving sinking ship no smart politics get out get a new guy because NDP in sask have only really one in three that like their sunny ways the other third vote on a whim the. Others are anti NDP.

Still swathing down canola I'm on my last quarter. Pig shit has green patches but also funny areas with out or to much I'm not sure but it's noticeable.

Any way I really hope the brain damaged one realizes he is destroying canada one farm at a time.
