Hillary won the popular vote. But by the quirks of the electoral college lost the presidency. I am not a fan of either. But between the two Hilary would have been a more competent stable choice.
I don't think the US system is very democratic to begin with. Big money runs the show down there. The republicans are pretty good at making it hard for minorities and poor voters to register. There is corruption and conflicts of interests at all levels.
