Machine guns, fully automatic with unlimited magazine size are legal in Nevada!

It is just not the crazy people who do this it is also unbelievable that citizens vote to allow machine guns to be sold and legal. Why? For what purpose? The gun lobby is out of control.

First shot should have taken care of that. Doubt he cared about getting in trouble for breaking a window.

From the tv coverage , no balconies, but two broken windows , kinda looks like a few rooms apart .
This seems to me like pre meditated domestic terrorism, no ?
This seems like a planed terrorist act by a loacal guy that went bonkers for some reason ?
One can't speculate on details , I am sure it will come out sooner or later , but it all seems strange from what the news and this guys brother are saying .
Regardless a horrible situation for those killed and their families and friends.
What would posses a guy to shoot into a harmless group of innocent people is mind boggling.
His brother has been quoted as saying he had no affiliation with any religious or white supremacist groups or anything of that nature . Also no police records of violence or really anything.
It all just seems strange . Maybe bad drugs ?
A lot of questions to a horrible outcome .

Really seems like something has to be more to this story. Possibly as you said bad drugs?

My worst fears when family goes to those kinds of events. It's coming somewhere here I m afraid.

No, Mandalay Bay is our hotel of choice when we take our granddaughter due to lazy river, great beach, wave pool, beach breakfast, but I guess I don't rate-yet, never had a balcony.

I'll wait to see what the police find in this guys house and computer/cell phone before I decide whether he was mentally sick or just evil.

Is this lawyer from CBS that was fired today, mentally sick, evil, or just another leftist????http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2017/10/02/report-cbs-legal-exec-blasts-las-vegas-victims-republican-gun-toters/

When you go into a hotel in India you are scanned, luggage, purse and individual. All this changed after the attacks at the TAJ MAHAL.

What type of security is employed in Vegas? Inconvenient as it is, maybe time to move this up a notch.

So for all you guys who think having your own gun to defend yourself is of any value, in this case and many cases, armed civilians with weapons for self defence have little benefit and are not a deterrent.
Automatic weapons have been effectively banned since 1986 federally. Supersedes any state law. Automatic weapons manufactured prior to 1986 are still legal to own but only after being subjected to a rigorous, federal, ATF background check, being fingerprinted, and federally registered to the specific serial # of the gun. $200 charge applies with each registration. New parts are illegal to purchase even for pre 1986 guns. Means old guns have to be cannibalized in order to maintain these guns. A dwindling supply means some rare mechanisms are pushing north of $50,000.

After purchasing and registering, you are obligated by law to notify federal authorities any time your address changes, or you desire to transport said guns across state lines.

Even I was not aware of this until this morning.

Wikipedia also says "evidence suggests that none of these weapons has ever been used to commit a violent crime."

Legal and lawful gun ownership doesn't seem to be the problem. Black market guns however are. How we get a handle on these I have no good ideas.

Longer more severe sentences if a firearm is used during a criminal offence? Seems the US already has a prison population problem so that would seem unlikely to resolve the problem.

Registration since 1986 hasn't stopped the problem.

Confiscation and prohibition of all firearms? Or just automatic weapons?
Even if possible, It's the black market that's the problem, not legal gun ownership...
