It is absurd that carbon has been villified when we are made of carbon and it is the staff of life. How the world has been scammed by self-enriching greedy buggars and the lefties fell for it because the energy indistry represents wealth. They are blinded by that jealousy, that's how it works.

Klause thanks for the heads up. Proponents of a carbon tax always talk of how it is the best solution and that it will create change on its own. But governments won't let the carbon tax work. They start layering on regulations. One example is the elimination of coal from our electrical grid in Canada. Now this clean fuel mandate. Each regulation and tax adds to our cost of living. I think the article said Trudeau's carbon tax will lower our emissions 18 million tonnes, the clean fuel mandate another 30 million tonnes out of a the theoretical 220 million tonnes by 2030, so 22% of the way there. Imagine what it is going to cost us to get the rest of the way!!

I wonder how much Co2 was burned to take that whole delegation to Paris ?
But that's ok , it's "do as we say , not do as we do. "
No different than the Hollywood smucks and the likes of Gore and Suzuki that tell us it's our fault the earth is falling apart and it's our fault and we must change the way we live our lives .
The hypocrisy is almost unbearable. They want everyone to change their way of life and pay to keep theirs .

Carbon taxes have never and will never do anything for the environment. It is just a tool to steal from those who don't support lieberal government and pay off those who vote for them. Business as usual. With gargantuan debt, governments will be on to anything and everything to harvest tax dollars. The corporate tax screwing around is just more of this.

The Liberal gov't has long said that carbon taxation was only part of the plant, likely even the smallest part of the plan. In order to meet emission requirements environment Canada told McKenna a levy of at least $100/Mt would need to be brought in no later than 2020 to meet 2030 targets. To meet 2050 targets that number would have to rise between $100-200 further. Leaving us with a levy worth between $200-300/Mt. That's somewhere between $0.50 and $0.75 per L on diesel or $10-15/GJ on nat gas. Obviously those sorts or prices would be untenable for a democratically elected government, so the plan all along has been to implement a modest carbon tax, and bring about the remainder through gov't regulation. Renewable mandates and subsidies, forced fossil fuel power plant closures, and regulations on nearly every aspect of life. I'm reminded of a leaked Ontario proposal to mandate 2nd family vehicles be electric. New home heating coming from electric rather than natural gas. New insulation standards in new home construction.

Even things related to new infrastructure can only go so far. Sooner or later older vehicles won't be able to be sold to anyone, or perhaps even registered. Old homes won't pass inspection without significant upgrades. Who knows how far it can go. The idea is to essentially make the costs of changing behaviour indirect. Make no mistake though It's still going to cost us immensely one way or the other.

Same will go with any powered farm machinery . Anything pre tier 4 will become scrap iron , shortly .
Sad thing is we are one of the only industries in the world that are unable to pass on the increased costs of this and all the multiple carbon tax's headed our way .

How the **** are they gonna figure out how to tax us if we are freezing our asses off in the next 10,20 or 30 years. They don't know how to forecast the weather next week never mind whats gonna happen in 2030. Why don't they just say we gotta pay a tax to keep all the deadbeats and freeloaders alive so they can mark an X on the ballot for the one who's can promise the most free shit. **** I hate dumb people. Or worse yet dumb people who think we are to dumb to see through there bullshit.

If the liberals get all these taxes that they are proposing. Why work.
