Even BTO's feel free to come over and hook on to your Wishek and use for weeks, it comes back unserviced - nice!

Unfortunately there are guys out there that aren't bad guys but they seemingly where never taught good neighbourly practice. In our area the guys that take advantage of neighbours find themselves on there own very quickly. Most need a prompting that fuel cost and wrap cost are such and such and when could they come over and straighten it up? If money is an issue take beef in exchange. We have been through this and I would say most just need an education of what proper borrowing practices are.

If your going to borrow, set the ground rules before it leaves the yard, not that hard to do. Fill that tank with fuel before it leaves yard, point it out to the neighbor, that's how it's to return. Also applies to servicing as well. Pretty simple, some neighbors just need a friendly reminder.
I have no problem helping out the neighbors and by doing this there is never no hard feelings!

An awkward situation would be a mechanical break down. Some stuff is minor but some could be major. How do you handle it? Abuse and neglect is different from something breaking from normal wear and tear and it was going to break in the next ten hours no matter who was using it. Or not catching a problem that becomes much bigger problem. Thank goodness most people around here are self sufficient.
