Open market project was never finished.....and don't expect offenders to step up to the plate and fix the problems created by them.....each "big dog" for themselves. Canada's welfare isn't answered to, shareholder's returns and private business balance sheets/income and expense statements rule the day. How can you expect private or publicly traded businesses to be in the business of "nation building"? If you want business to do what's best for all the people of the country....you better have public crowns.

Maybe buy some shares and hope that the dividends and share appreciation offsets, or surpasses, whatever you think the "free" market is costing you.

You don't miss any chance to attack somebody (well, SF3 and me usually) but they are awfully shallow attempts.


We don't have a free market economy in the world... we have massive corporations (bayer/monsanto, et al) that can only exist because governments make it possible through this retarded international trade agreements and subsides.

In a libertarian... or free market economy, these companies would be too large, ineficient, and un-dynamic, they would go broke, and cease to exist, voids being filled by small dynamic firms.


That's besides the point... we are trying to compete with countries that are spending billions on ag and infrastructure. What are we doing?

Nothing. Our ag groups spend check off money on retreats and distillery tours, along with Palm Springs trips (that would be Sask Canola)... Instead of lobbying for better rail infrastructure.... Better port infrastructure...

We need massive infrastructure investments to remain competitive. We need to make radical changes in grain production to keep us ahead of our competitors.


We can not compete on quantity. We need to compete on quality. On ecological sustainability.

Our forestry industry has the FSC. Why don't grain and livestock producers have the same... independent (non chemical industry) certification that we are sustainable producers

Why don't we ban the pre harvest use of glyphosate... We would be able to keep it as a tool for the pre seed and post harvest uses... and be able to get into European and premium Asian markets where our product can command a premium.

It's rather simple.

In canada we do nothing but talk and divide.

We need real leadership.

South America gets their transportation and port problems figured out.

Russia has some of the best ground for farming and they use to be able to grow crops they will well again as they are showing us.

We're over cost system where every one else makes on farmers and all cost is passed onto us.

Basically we let the pigs get control.

Russia will have issues later but in the take over its easy beat the idiots at their own game.

It doesn't matter if it's there already or hasn't been shipped...


There is close to 2 mmt of boat space and the port facilities are not full.

This crop isn't moving very well.

Lentil and pea exports are way behind and are now at a complete standstill.

So while you are toasting Yerry Ritz at his farewell/ retirement party maybe you could ask him where the weekly transparent reports are for the industry.....because it seems stupid to listen to a weekly crop report on the radio without a whisper of what's going on beyond the farm gate.....


If industry had to look for info on farms the same way we have to on them they would be planting sheep,felcro,rubber boots and a camera in every MPs office until they had the data they needed or wanted .....and it appears that has been checked off their bucket list.

I am guessing that you are thrilled to hear that Canada is donating aircraft to Egypt Air. I wonder how much of the theoretical $1 B deal is actually paid in actual $USD and how much is export development 'financed'.

Keep in mind the issue with peas and lentils is lack of sales. Transportation is not an issue at all in this area. Not affecting trade at all. Zero. Zippo.

here's a thought ,
why not send the western Canadian wheat growers over to Russia.

so they can tell them how full compensatory freight rates will solve all their problems.
I am sure there is a Russian rail monopoly to deal with , just like ours.
and they can get the same amazing results we have here.

If canada and australia both, had single desk system still guarantee you last years crop mwould still be sitting unsold and a pathetic first payment of $60 per tonne or the likes.

A question in june when prices hit a high of $306 port or $328 box trade in late june did prices come near to that in canada? Think feed barley traded as high as $250 port from menmory
