We test a few fields each year because I think it's good to see long term comparisons. Just got some results back today says low N and recommendation on N is 220lbs an acre with 8% organic matter. Always makes me wonder about validity too. 220lbs would be flat as can be.

Same here. Om runs 5 to 7%. I figure I couldn’t afford to apply what tests say I should. So just run a 60-20 blend on cereals and a 60-20-0-10 on canola. I adjust it depending on conditions and the particular field. Fields where we feed on for several years or more we never cut back on fertility. Takes a few years but those fields will produce more than others that didn’t get the treatment, and the effects are lasting for quite a few subsequent crops.

Grey wooded burnt off years ago splattered with patches of blue gumbo and peat moss. Oil field equioment operators cant believe the lack of topsoil .
