Seems odd not too long ago farming101 was saying shipping was top notch....it isn't and hasn't been for a long time....

65 percent space at West coast.... 2mmt of boats ....and ****ing horrible rail movement....

Now add in the embarrassment of protein discounts ....no pulse movement....

Let's all grow canola next year and get to 26 million tonnes and watch it drop to 8 bucks because the end users know they can **** western Canadian farmers over with a simple tariff. ....
bucket, your not far off, I think canola acres are going to explode next year, many cant afford to grow wheat anymore.

USA Dollar going through the roof the Americans now realize they won't sell a lot of wheat so down it goes.

Has nothing to do with Canadian or Australian or other production problems or even a smaller USA Crop. Cant sell a product when its priced to high.

In the Sahara Slum of the Ghetto.....our soil moisture has not been replenished. Getting canola.established next spring might be a huge challenge.....if things don't change and those low humidity hot windy days are prevalent. ...we're ****ed! Seeding conditions can go from adequate to dismal real quick! Too early for fretting and hand wringing just yet, but as of now, we are already somewhat behind the eight ball!

Apologies, my posts on that thread were just stating some numbers without a comment on whether I thought they were good or bad. Definitely room for improvement at getting grain to port in a timely fashion.
If there were no ships waiting for grain I guess that would be worse....especially if the system was full

CP has been outperforming CN this year

CN hiring http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/cn-rail-hiring-saskatchewan-1.4409104

CN has had problems this year, some not entirely their fault https://globalnews.ca/news/3810003/train-cars-derail-off-trestle-bridge-in-central-alberta-witness/

Look at the numbers for CN car cancellations

They had some nice weather to make some gains on emptying the prairies ....****ed around until winter with more excuses.....

CN hiring...????they should have been when Harrison was there but he cut it to the bone...

Same thing at CP eventually....

Human resources are fairly easy in mature industries.....if you forget to hire to replace .....it eventually catches up....

Province did it with nurses....ipsco did it with trades....it costs more in the long run to have bulk hiring to end up with a percentage of qualified employees.....in other words you end up with dog****ers.....maybe I should apply....

The article said 40 jobs posted in Melville. Seems like a lot.

I threw a target in at $7.75 yesterday for 14.6 pro.
Was going to do $8, but thought that’s too nice of a round number.

Neighbour landed a CN job this summer. He likes it. Hope it works out.
You're right, CN is not going to get up to speed when they need that many all at once
