....Japan's????? How about our own country?....gone are the days of having kids because the couple are bored! "More" kids get in the way of lifestyle...even if that lifestyle already includes a kid or two.

Have you and your spouse at least replaced yourselves? Have you three kids?.....and actually done your part in increasing our population and maintaining our culture? Immigration anyone?

Hamloc, do you honestly believe the fossil fuel has never been subsidized and in fact is not currently still subsidized? Do you think hydro electric power has not received government funds for building the dams? And do you think it was individual companies who discovered, harnessed and built the first nuclear power plants? New energy has always had government backing. I am not sure why you think green energy should not also be supported.

Interestingly, just read that Alberta has 81,602 inactive oil and gas wells as of Nov, 2016. Estimated cost of cleanup of these wells is estimated over $30 billion and industry has only put aside a few hundred million dollars for this cost. In September, the collapse of just one junior oil company added 413 more wells to the orphan well program in that province alone. And you think solar is a tax burden. It is nothing compared to the mess governments are going to have to pay to clean up after the fossil fuels.
