    Govt Idiocy/Hypocrisy

Dont care if your right or left leaning both are dumb at times

Major cities and large regional towns in australia have legal heroin injecting rooms to make it safer for addicts using.

Now our elected members here in australia from both sides have made it illegal to smoke in safe injecting rooms and within 5 metres. As they are conscious of users health.

How much time effort and money was wasted bringing in this law and how many resources will be wasted policing it.

As charlie brown used to say "good grief"

We have both sides of political sphere on agriville but both will shake there heads at that one.

Hehe always reread what i type before i post, just noticed a blatant oxymoron in my post, reckon grassy or farmaholic will pick it.

And how is that, the safe injection sites, alot different than what was put in place here? I don't know if there's a smoking ban in our "safe" injection sites but the whole thing hardly makes sense. Keep them alive to keep using and make sure they don't spread diseases like AIDS and hepatitis and who knows what other diseases amongst that "community".

Are we a compassionate or enabling society? I guess if you consider not allowing smoking in the safe injection sites because the "authorities" care about the user's health..... it must be compassion.

seems odd but I guess you could make the case that it's for the health of the workers there. Makes a bit more sense that way, not sure that there are any workplaces here anymore that can be smoked in. Even restaurants, bars, casinos, hotels etc all smoke free. yet surprisingly still lots of smokers out there

The world is topsy turvy. At some point you just have to accept it isn't the hill you're going to die on and move on. There's no other way to preserve your sanity. If you try to get inside a socialist's head you'll never understand it and you'll just make your own head hurt.

I can only speak from personal experience with Drs and dentists regarding prescription of opiods to my kids. The healthcare system owns this ****ing wreck of killing our kids. The over prescription of opiods that's going on for minor discomfort is firmly on my dentists head. My niece and son have both been prescribed oxycodone and Percocet by the dentist. They are 15 years old. It makes my blood to watch the bull shit the media portrays on the evening news. We don't need safe injection sites, we need a moratorium on prescription of these drugs. The healthcare system needs to be held accountable for over prescription. The drugs are being handed out like cotton candy and most parents have no idea what their children are given because they trust the "professionals". If you have kids know what the doctor is prescribing them because people don't naturally stick a needle in their arm to get high. My view has completely changed from, so sad another druggie died, to that ****ing dentist should have his license pulled and put in prison. If you go up the elevator in the midtown mall in Saskatoon for dental surgery read the prescription of what you walk out with it'll be an opiod.

It's no wonder communities can't afford stuff like rinks, playgrounds and basic infrastructure or even repairs. All our money from taxes goes into government and police budgets for drug related crime. Alcohol is an issue as well but the drugs are getting out of hand and worse and worse every year it seems.

Not meant to be a liberal vs conservative argument. Conservative govt actually bought it here.
More the point they condone heroin use but tobacco is banned.

oyxmoron is there really a side to a sphere?

Don't understand why you can't see the logic in banning smoking anywhere regardless whether it is at a safe injection site or elsewhere. These are both sensible decisions. Nice to see there are the occasional sensible Conservative government out there although it is not here. The isn't any sensible argument about either safe injections sites or banning smoking basically everywhere. It would be nice to see social services take a much more active role in addressing the harmful effects from negligent parents who continue to smoke around their infants.

Really? So you give high priority to warning against the danger of parents smoking around children, but you support the enabling of drug users who also are/may be parents?

The title of this thread may need to be broadened a little.
