I agree with grass. We are repeatedly hearing from a small number of farmers on Agriville many of which share similar views which are not representative of the wide range of views that rural people have across the country.
Most farmers can't be bothered with posting anything. There might be a fair number of viewers though.
Perhaps the Agriville administrators would care to comment on how many members and viewers there are?
It seems like politics is the most popular topic. A lot of the posts are rants which don't really serve much purpose other than to keep minds closed and stifle real discussions about the issues.
Most of what is posted wouldn't get said in public debates.
I am very surprised how negative many of the posters are about everything. Farming is difficult and stressful at times but is it really that bad out there?

Most everybody else is grounded in reality, and it can be a real bitch. Having met many a farmer in MB, I wonder where all the happy go-lucky farmers hide out at? in the Colonies?

What do you think would discourage other people from posting their experiences and views. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It's ok not to agree....
The politics can get old....this particular commodity forum is a catch all...you want exposure or traffic...come to the commodity forum. Seems people don't want to talk about their success or failures in marketing....reveal secrets, compete for limited markets by revealing too much info. Not many will blatantly call out the B.S. of the market's players...but I bet many read intently.
I have said stuff here that isn't "popular"(depending on which side of the issue you come in from). Politically correct does nothing to address issues...open minds and respect do.
Don't get "negative" confused with realistic. There's lots to be grateful for but rest on your laurels and there will be less.
Being opinionated and outspoken may not be popular but I'm not trying to win any popularity contests.
For myself, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, past and present, for their contributions to making this site what it is.

Just look at the thread views/posts ratio...
I can't speak for others, but everything I post I feel comfortable saying in public. Liberalism sucks. It pulls the life out of a country and kills it by killing the culture and social fabric from within.
Some of us have had more experiences in life than others, and don't live in the "Canadian bubble".
You and grass have never known real hardship, terror... hunger. It's easy to see that when you've had other experiences in life.
Does that mean I discount your opinions? No... but I will argue points I find contrary to my own views... Doesn't mean you need to believe me... or that we need consensus. Debate and differing views are a good thing.

Hey lots of farmers voted Liberal last election. Stevie wasn’t transparent enough for some. Marketing freedom wasn’t enough, lower taxation wasn’t enough...nope we need more transparent government, whatever that means..
One self proclaimed prominent Sask. North East Farm family openly shared they voted Liberal and were shocked over the prospect of a tax plan that would hurt giving the farm to their junior.
The poor mom even felt responsible....but I think a big campaign to stop it, and lots of tweeting saved the day, some key calls to Bill and the news media stopped the tax train. God Bless Liberal Farmers and all their connections and their savey use of social media right in the middle of harvest. Outstanding. People get the government they want.
