    Flax going forward...

Going from 100K tonnes of production to 1.1 million tonnes in ten years. They are producing as much and more as we are now. I think we better hope for new demand.

Considering no flax processing happens here and hasn't has been increased.... if the FSU increases production. ...we are hooped.

Maybe like mustard they will come out with a hybrid flax that will solve our problems.....oops they tried that with triffid. .....

101, what's the average yearly world demand? Maybe it's grown to match production, otherwise would we be seeing $12+ domestic flax prices? But the one article talks about Canadian prices arbitraging down to match the potential competition from the FSU into China.

It seems nobody wants to grow it already anyway, so acres will have to be bought to compete with other more profitable crops. Maybe it will be like Scandanavian oats was.... cheaper landed in the US than they could get it from Canada.

Why does nothing arbitrage up except machinery and inputs?

North Dakota canola growers are guaranteed 12.60cdn a bushel yet no one matches that here or tells the American trade negotiator about the imbalance . ...

Sure seems like the early 80's are back. Growing surpluses of everything, rampant inflation of inputs, interests rates following inflation upwards.
