The CWB was proven a fair trader more than a dozen times in U.S. courts. A five year survey done not long before the CWB was murdered showed that Canadian wheat priced higher than U.S. wheat in American mills 59/60 months. The only time the CWB was subsidized by the taxpayer was once in 1935. The CWB was able to use its' reputation for quality to differentially price into different markets, and to make customers want 'Canadian' brand wheat. To say the CWB wouldn't work today because nobody cares where the grain is from because the CWB isn't there to make a difference is circular reasoning.

If the CWB was so frickin great, why weren't Ontario and Peace River farmers screaming to be included? Just to answer my own question - they knew how Western farmers were being hosed and wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole!

The Pease was part of the CWB. Ontario grew medium protein wheat and sold most of it very close to home. I'm sure you've had the exact same point explained to you a dozen times. Different place, different problems, different solutions.

I am in the peace and i have a drawer full of old permit books, also the check the final year of the cwb was alive i had to pay out my contract, havent shed a tear since.

The "Pease" is in BC isn't it? I guess a small part of BC was included - maybe "Pease". But answer me Oblivious why was the rest of Canada not clammering to be included? You know why, that's why you won't answer.

Neither Ontario or Quebec farmers mounted a credible lobby to join the CWB because they chose to avoid doing so.; nor did Ontario or Quebec MP's work towards extending the designated area to either Eastern province when federal legislation was schemed.

BUT the Eastern MP's did mount a united front to divorce Quebec and Ontario from ever being part of the initial Designated area legislation

They weren't stupid. Nor socialists. Tommy Douglas was the loudmouth loser who pushed for Western farmers' grain to be nationally governed.

Yup. Another Saskatchewan premier, remember him?, tried to corral Saskies into state farming, just as China does. Communism.

Both Eastern provinces were delighted to see their grain sell anywhere in Canada, or anywhere in the world, with all licensing requirements fulfilled by the CWB; the licensing costs paid for by only Western farmers, no buybacks, and no licensing refusals
