Canada got a Deal, No it’s Liberal Fluff.

India, Canada To Work Up Pulse Export Protocols
The prime ministers of Canada and India have agreed to sort out new and predictable rules governing exports of Canadian pulse crops, says a post on agcanada.com.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on a state visit this week to India, released a joint statement with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday calling for the two countries to reach a new arrangement on pest-free pulse shipments “within 2018.”
Since Canada’s climate doesn’t certain specific pests to survive, its pulse exports to India in recent years have been granted a series of short-term exemptions from India’s standing requirement that deliveries be fumigated with methyl bromide in their country of origin.
Methyl bromide, long used as a fumigant against pests in agriculture and shipping, is a known ozone-depleting chemical many countries have phased out of use.

Basically his whole trip was a joke so it’s monday and he needs help this isn’t a deal on getting us shipping peas back to India.

It’s a deal to keep discussing how bad a chemical is to treat peas and how our climate is so cold bugs die before being shipped and that India will agree on.

But as for us making some money growing peas and lentils the sock puppet did shit all.

i hope someone will have enough sense in this government, to apologize to india, for his childish behaviour towards their democracy

Case on that point I totally agree with your assessment. The trip to India will go down as a turning point. Little prince showed the world what a real idiot looks like.

Participation badge generation doesn’t create strong leadership.

If he has another screw up I think it’s game over for the liberals.

Oh wait the budget is this week hell what’s another 20 billion deficit.

Ah liberal we’re other people’s money creates wealth for useless liberals.

Enter Grass to tell us how he is doing so good.

Until the tariffs are reduced agreeing on fumigation science really is a non starter. ...

            There is nothing to fumigate...

Come on, really ...to quote the PM....this isn't a deal of anything.

See the liberal machine isn’t working because years ago they would have had the Ag minister come along even if he did nothing but stay in his hotel room. It was the old slight of hand making the public think they actually gave a shit about farmers.

But in Trudeau’s world he didn’t even have the guy mentioned.

They will start eating their own it’s a matter of time.

              It will implode.

Saskpulse and the industry guys have to say Trudeau did something....there was just an announcement about a supercluster....

They get paid anyway through checkoff funds or the fact when the market comes back they still make their margins as a processor....time to update the plant in the slow period....

Absolutely nothing for the primary producer.....nothing.

Now you guys can criticize my post.... but no one was over there representing the farmer....the primary producer....

CBC made mention of suicides of farmers in India.....so the solution is to send that type of hardship over here?

If Canada was a dairy product exporting nation and some ridiculously high tariff was imposed on imports into an importing county, would have the ag minister gone in defense of the dairy producers?

Oh well, how do you draw the comparison, dairy products don't sit in a bin and is prone to a very short shelf life, unlike pulses. And who had the biggest dairy industry in Canada?

Maybe if we would have threatened to leave our PM there they would have dropped the pulse tariffs and fumigation requirements.

                    farmaholic

The support cheques would have been written already.

In any other industry the government supports them...look at the supercluster**** deal profitable companies and universities get funding but no mention of primary ag that makes it all happen in the first place.

Like I posted a few months back it’s a lot easier to farm when you finally realize the whole industries need you and live off your farm and couldn’t care if you sink or swim just as long as some other sucker picks up the slack.

Just like the worker who does his job excellent for 25 plus years and gives everything for that job and sacrifices his family is replaced two weeks after he retires or dies.

No one cares about the primary producer because some other sucker will pick up the pieces.
