    NAFTA Trumped

Stupidity reigned supreme as Trump starts trade war with Aluminum and Steel Tariffs. NAFTA may be doomed, as Canada biggest exporter of steel to U.S. DOW crashes or Trump takes a dump. He will be the death of the American empire.

Why worry is there an actual canadian steel company anymore?

Evraz is Russian ....that might explain some of the issues.

Actually tariffs benefit the US. This way they keep all those countries that like to export only and devalue their currency in order to increase exports to the US at bay. These are likely reasonable tariffs.

If it is so good for the U.S., why is the DOW tanking? Republicans asking Trump to back off. This could spark world wide protectionism and another Great Depression.

It's funny how his speech the other day condemned Japan, India and a few others for having tariffs on American vehicles and how that was unfair business practice and made competition impossible. Yet it's ok to put his own tariffs on imports. I do think he will do more good than harm for the US overall but boy he should just keep his pie hole shut.

This is a normal consolidation trade. I would not call this tanking. Markets go up and they go down. The DOW actually had some height to fall from as compared to the TSX that traded at the same level today as it did in the spring of 2008. Yes that is right: one whole decade ago. Or Japan's Nikkei which trade close to 40000 in 1989 and today is around 21000. The US has its problem but this tariff is a bigger problem for exporters to the US than for the US itself.
