It’s definitely leverage for NAFTA negotiations.
Wisconsin dairy farmers are not happy with the Quebec/Ontario dairy quota system.
The aluminum tariff will hammer Quebec significantly hard so interesting to see what happens.
We already have a 42% tariff on rebar that enters Canada....maybe that wasn’t a good idea now?

Enough is enough. Who elected that excuse for a Prime Minister and only slightly outdone by a supposed President.
I just listened to the Prime Minister take three cracks at explaining Canada's position on the steel and aluminum tariffs. Maybe it can be overlooked to get it wrong in the first attempt at explanation...but to flub the second attempt (seconds after)...makes the final utterance an embarassment.
As for the President; maybe it can be attributed to taking us all down before he becomes emperor for life and gives perpetual pardons to himself and the whole Trump troop and family.
We'll be lucky to get out ofthis having only to suffer from nuclear fallout and the stress of being ruled by utterly incapable leadership at many levels.

This thread has enlightened me on why Canada didn't get an exemption. Trump is like a poker player who bets "all in" most of the time. I guess if you have the biggest power in the world behind you its a no brainer lol.

The graph above is maybe an over simplification according to what I've read. Here are 2 more - the first showing basic steel imports which would be comparable to the previous graph. There is another side though which are the "further processed" steel imports. They are the ones coming primarily from China. So Trump wants to hit China but unfortunately imposes the tariffs on the wrong category - oops! Dumbass strikes again. When they figure out the problem he starts talking the NAFTA crap to cover for his mistake. What a comedy show. He'll probably build his wall on the border with Canada instead of Mexico because he had his map upside down.

US markets trading to the upside again proving president Trump right and all the naysayers wrong. The only manufactured goods from the US that get exported are the very high dollar kind like CAT bulldozers and Boeing aircraft. Tariff impact on that is minimal. Yes a fair bit of steel in a bulldozer but as a percent of selling price the tariff is not much. What president Trump is saying is that all the nations of world including Canuckistan that believe that trade is export only, you guys need to open up your markets and stop devaluing currency to gain trade advantages. Trump: 1 Rest of the world dumbasses: 0
