Ohh , and all the city boys pretend hunters shoving agricultural regulations down our throats .... really ? Just so they can have the opportunity to go duck shooting once or twice a year ? Think about it .

I agree with the goals Ducks are aiming to achieve but not with how they manage land in practice. Beavers are awesome riparian managers and I have no problems with them as long as you keep enough coyotes around.
I prefer grain farmers as neighbours though - they send me their water and topsoil for free !!

Back to the topic. Was paid ten bucks an acre for area seeded to winter wheat. I guess some see this is a mistake? Same with the forage agreement. If you are seeding down land anyway, why not take advantage of their programs? They do not take control of the land, they just want the habitat for nesting success.
Most farmers sure seem to hate habitat and wildlife. I guess if all that matters is dollars...
I also notice most grain farmers are more virulently opposed to woodlands and riparian areas. Livestock people seem far more open to using the land in different ways, leaving more habitat intact.
And then the grain farmers come to my land to hunt, and wonder why I post it! Lol.

If people want to donate money for duck habitat i have no problem with that. I do have a problem with farmers who talk out both sides of their mouth. When it’s convenient you want the government out of your business but its ok to “take advantage†of DU money (some of which comes from government) if you are growing winter wheat or seeding pasture. Puts you square in ndp camp.

For sheepwheats wheat payment, if all farmers where paid $10 an acre and sheepwheat still seeded his winter wheat and got the same $10, then it would be the NDP way.
