Who are the scum? the wording of the petition reads in part:

"This legislation does not provide the resources to frontline police forces to tackle the true source of firearms violence : gangs and organized criminal enterprises.
We, the undersigned, Residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to scrap Bill C-71, An Act to amend certain Acts and Regulations in relation to firearms, and to instead devote greater resources to policing in Canada."

It's a wee bit ironic that the Conservative sponsor of the petition says this while all her Alberta Conservative colleagues voted against that province's decision to invest $10 million recently in exactly these things, a move taken to replace some of the $140 million cut from the federal budget by the previous Con Government which Jason Kenney was part of.

Yes bill C-71 is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Since all licenses will need to be phone verified with the CFO, kiss the good ole gun shows that happen on weekends good bye. Also hands over the reigns of firearms classification to the non elected RCMP. They'll do their magic to prohibit everything but a glue gun. Its all about control of law abiding firearms owners and will do nothing to prevent criminals.
