Bill C-49 …*same old, same old

    Message to Canadian politicians …
Thanks for trying but do any of you really think that Bill C-49 will result in better grain movement?
More to the point, do any of you think that a contract (aka reciprocal penalties) between a grain company and a railway company will benefit farmers, especially when its -30C and elevators aren't gerring any cars?
Some money might exchange hands between grain cos and railways but I guarantee you farmers won't see a red cent of it.
If anything, we need legislation that ensures more equitable contracts between FARMERS and GRAIN COMPANIES.
How about legislated grain delivery contracts that ensure full payment for contracted grain within 30 days of stated delivery date, regardless of whether the grain has been delivered or not.
Bottom line? Shit flows downhill … and farmers will still the low man on the totem pole, with or without Bill C-49
Pains me to think we'll have to go through this same routine in a few years time.
    Rant over

Hopefully it helps keep grain moving but I fear it will be just MRE farmers get over charged then penalties just disappears into other accounts that is suppose to be for our benefit. Or like the 100 mil that was given to CGC by over charging farmers how do we know if that is getting back to farmers. The list goes on.

Hear stories of record high land prices and rental rates for Regina heavy clay.
Also coffee shop and Agriville stories complaining about grain prices and movement.
Maybe things are not that bad, thankful we don’t have livestock.

At the current freight rates the railways can afford to lease another 250 locomotives ....don't know where they are sitting but maybe tbings were not all that bad that the Railways couldn't have done more earlier.....

It seems they are blackmailing until they get their way with commercial rates for grain....at one point a trucking company will get into their space.....it's almost there now....

Smaller lots are moving midpoint sask to Abbotsford BC.....by truck already....feed wheat if you imagine that....
