China is the world's largest exporting nation not the world's largest trading nation. First we tariff India over the pulse tariff and then we tariff China over the long standing canola tariff. The US did not start the trade war, only responded to it. Here in Canuckistan we do nothing as most Canucki's are Chicom sympathizers and want to be a Chinese vassal state. Pretty much are already.

Yes we know you hate Trudeau. Politicians come and go.
But most farmers believe in the free market that allows the market to determine the cost of inputs, land and commodity prices.
We know that the big grain traders, the seed and chemical suppliers, the machinery suppliers and the railways are all acting in their own self interest. But that is how capitalism is supposed to work. Their job is to extract as much profit from you as possible.
Do you want the state to takeover or do you believe in free markets?
As far as I can see most farmers want free markets except when it bites them in the ass.
You need to decide what you want and stop blaming the system you support.

Many of the free trade agreements we have have been about giving up control of our economy to the corporate world.
But as Trump will find out having the best trading relationship possible is good for everybody.
But don't count on Trump to understand much, he lies and spreads misinformation about trade with Canada all the time. How often has the US used tariffs and other trade distorting subsidy programs to their own advantage? Lots.
They don't want an independent dispute mechanism in the new NAFTA. Why? Because then they cant be held responsible and then they can make their own rules.

As an individual farmer you can't compete against amother nation's treasury....no matter how many acres you farm.....a North Dakota farmer is currently guaranteed 12.60cdn for canola.....that's 50 bucks an acre more than in Canada. ....
Think about the economics of that....

I'm talking about a useless piece of skin we call a PM that has done nothing for the rail problems oil problems and India trade problems.
He is to busy flying around drinking smoking and enjoying dressing up like a real Leader.
Enough is enough.
We live in a country where farmers are nothing but a useless part of the economy that a lot of the economy needs to become rich.
That's reality.
As someone said above there are so few actual farmers now our votes mean almost nothing to the political parties. We have all the grower and commodity groups singing a differen song but no United voice or lobby to get basic things done for ag that we can all agree on.

So its Trudeau's fault that Trump is anti free trade and that China has become the worlds manufacturer? Consumers are in love with cheap Chinese products.
India put tariffs on pulse crops for their own internal political reasons. What about farmers support of support of supply management in this country? No government wants to give this up.
Do you really think Harper would have started cutting cheques to farmers because of a trade war?
I am not sure how you turn back the clock on low cost manufacturing and trade that has moved millions of jobs to Mexico, China etc? US GDP and wages are much higher.
What business wants to move their manufacturing back to a higher cost country and make less profit?
Are you guys in favour of an all out trade war? Because it seems like you support Trump no matter what he does even if it affects our markets.
this piece of work probably never even asked about it while he was playing mr dress up in India . didn't even take the Ag minister ? that tariff dropped our pea price instantly , meanwhile we are told to hurry and buy steel bins here because price is going up because of steel tariff ? what am I missing ?
the only reason supply management is still around is because the line share is in eastern Canada , ffs .
the only thing I don't undestand is why the west allows itself to be shit on and ****d and pillaged ?
what's it gonna take ?

When 65% of Canadian GDP is based on trade compared to 26% USA and China at 37% our leaders better pay attention. China and USA are developing internal economies compared to us fueled on trade. We simply don't have the population to be self sufficient and live like kings with handouts from govt half or lives. You can't fix this problem with immigration. ÃŒt takes foreign capital flowing in. I swear Justin needs this written in crayon.... either lifestyle changes for the masses or we keep selling debt. US is currently exporting oil and are self sufficient so forget about exporting wind power. THERE HAS TO BE CAPITAL FLOWING IN!Last edited by macdon02; Apr 7, 2018, 10:27.

Is that the focus you were meaning.
It gets tiring listening to farmers complain all the way to the bank.
Have a good day Horse and I hope you have a successful 2018 season.
Take care.

Sure cc., there was an independent dispute mechanism in the old NAFTA agreement, but what good was it?
Every time the US thought it had a case, it imposed its will. Did Canada collect anything back after months, years, of independent mechanism study? Cut and paste those amounts recollected from US wrong thinking. Start with BSE, and tell me what was our recapture of damages.
