Completely agree. You can lock in Sept barley here for 4.20 September, I think you would be crazy to plant barley and not lock that in.

Feeders screwed themselves the last couple years and are now having to pay for barley but grain growers gonna kick there own buts by going overboard thinking $5 barley is here to stay.

Talked with a farmer at Foam Lake today he said
hes hoping to start May 20. He also mentioned a lot of guys are changing wheat to feed barley.
I don’t think we will start till first of May .... hopefully.

I meant to say first week of May. I thought of some feed barley, but with lateness guys in the north will be growing big acres.

                Plan unchanged.

Barley is just not interesting here. Hardly any acres except the odd mixed guy looking for something to roll or grind. Feed wheat bushels the same here most years, and sometimes more when July decides to sodomize you...

Feed wheat as % of cereal acres down, durum up.
                Cereals 50%
                Oilseeds 25%
                Pulses 25%

God forbid, in this neighborhood you can seed the end of may and a crap July can still mean full blown harvest mid august.
