I wonder how much CO2 was burnt for the cement alone to build that dam. And oh all those evil diesel burning cement trucks that delivered the cement... unless they were solar powered 🙄.

Why? like you don't think the ability to reverse desertification is just about the most important thing we could do right now?

Grassy it takes millions of years to build a foot of top soil, putting a pot in the desert, with an irrigation line. A game changer really.

Didn't the Saudis or the UAE try greening up the desert using aquifers? And then they quit.
I hate poo pooing the Chinese efforts but those look like "shifting" sand dunes....everything will be buried in the "sands" of time. And human efforts are no match for Mother Nature's forces, she makes the rules and changes them at will.

Ya cost!!! With a huge amount of energy and resources we could probably grow a tomato on the moon. Saudis realized the Canadians would be dumb enough to hand over the cwb assets for free, hire a few googly eyed graders, and join in on the screwing.

Just like a load of green peas they were trying to pick down below a #2, told the apprentice not to unload them because a kid grader was picking them harder than a Arkansas banjo player at competition. Told them they can pick them down to a feed if they want, I'm not unloading and WILL take them home!. They had my samples, they offered the good price and they called me......

All ended well and they even extended the good contract price to the overage, I texted the buyer and thanked him.

We need a more hydro dams on the Sask Rivers to control flooding caused by climate change.

We have big problems when they spill water with the gates wide open.

Seems like such a waste seeing all that energy going underutilized.

I think the Cumberland First Nation would benefit too and help lobby Justin to take up such a noble cause.

Good for them. I guess I need to get out more but never knew there was desert in China. Hopefully they are more careful of contamination with these new agriculture areas than they have been in the past.
