I don't expect the taxpayers to bail me out if My poor choices of investment go underwater.
Perhaps a gradual phaseout would be the better route to recover some of the quota costs rather than the taxpayers paying for it.

Their publically funding price protection distorts production and trade just as much as supply management. Until the US is willing to reduce support they provide their farmers through subsidization I do not think Canada should have to adjust quotas or tariffs.
If I bought a new line of equipment to grow 12$ canola and the price drops to 6 and I loose my behind who should pick up the bill the taxpayer?

Without US ethanol mandates where would grain prices be, just look at the huge price swings the last couple years everytime they look at changing regs we get huge market reaction. The good prices and profitability we have had the last 10 yrs have a lot to do with ethanol production.
And if supply management goes you will also have lower grain prices, more farmer competition and dont forget higher taxes. As for milk prices, its as cheap as any other bottled beverage already so it ain't going down. And work wise it is still a tough 24/7 job. Robots tech can only do so much, no different than adding a Gps to your tractor, makes life better but doesn't eliminate the work.

Justin is a dud, yes.
It doesn’t really matter who is PM, trump would still be bashing, etc.
- what countries are on Trumps friendly list?
- what friends does trump have? ( that he doesn’t fire a short time later)
-he pushes everyone away and at the same time everyone wants to be close to him (friends) ironic, his style

Trade agreements
The Canada/USA trade is so convoluted it gives me a headache.
Ag, auto, etc.
But, if you think Trump is stupid and a bully OK.
How many aircarriers, cruisers, warplanes etc does Canada have? How many do Russia, China have, or nuclear armaments.
How much auto industry in Canada owned by China? and shipped into the US.
Heck, our railroads are owned by Americans.
Trudeau is a minime.
Doesn’t matter about Trumpps sexual appetites as long as no one gets hurt, grow up.
Cut the best deal you can with the economic giant. And for the most part, you get more by friendly negotiation.
Trumps not stupid, he didn’t get there that way.
