Not giving anything. The money in question will be a loan.

As I tour around, I sure do not see hurting farmers.

There will be auto sector subsidies or handouts if a tariff is slapped on vehicles entering USA from Canada. Maybe another program to scrap your old vehicle too and a rebate for buying new, time will tell.
Eastern Canadian Industries such as the dairy cartel, auto workers, steel/aluminum, aerospace, Air Canada, CBC are very subsidized and favoured.

Just like someone puts a tariff on ag products and naturally the price drops but put a tariff on steel and naturally the price of steel goes up!

Just another bill we gotta pay. I’m really starting to hate the way things are done in this country. You begin to wonder when common sense will come back around.

This is a bonehead move by the Quebec (Liberal) government. One bonehead move doesn't deserve another. This is playing right into Trump's anti-trade rhetoric. Steel and aluminum workers are not hurt by trade actions - in the worst case they are backstopped by employment insurance but in reality they are represented by the best unions in the world. Don't waste any sympathy on them. What the Quebec government has really done is prop up big business.
