    Your Patch

How are things looking on your north forty. Here the rain was a blessing but it didn't occur with out any harm. Mud holes and water drown outs. Peas are looking yellow in some draws, I guess they might not like the wet feet. From begging and praying for rain to wishing we miss the next one if it arrives too soon after the last monsoon.

    Otherwise crops are okay.

Thursday looks like the next threat. Fingers crossed here too that we only get a little shower - no more 2 3/4 inchers needed here for awhile. The 7-8 inches here showed up some low spots we never knew we had. Still happy it rained cause if it hadn’t, she would have been Round-Up Acres. Good Luck Farmaholic and all Agrivillers. Keep safe and keep the hammer down. The lake awaits us!

Time for more here - the grass had a decent run there for 2 weeks but we've used up the moisture we got. Not a disaster by any means but if we don't get decent moisture in the next month our potential for production for the year is gone. Nothing of substance in the forecast.
A picture of some pasture in our area over the fence from where I was working today. Not drought, mainly poor management. Going to be a long winter for those cows.

Super wet here and hoping to miss all rains for a long stretch. Crop looking a little weak from flooding rains and lack of sun.

What rains? 3.25" since snow went, snow was short, last summer and fall were dry. Not looking good for a grass operation.

I finally and thankful we got 2in ,you can start to see the seed rows now, the hay is a no show but the pastures are ok ,due to carry over from last yr. About 58mm by my gage will see when the moisture deficient report comes in by the end of month.
Slave lake 177mm in last few days flooding summer village so not complaining about our situation.

Wet. Last week the creeks ran full force again. Fair bit of water sitting. As bad or worse is the areas outside the water, the muddy mire. Crops suffer in these conditions. Depending on the lay of the land, and soil texture, crops are either suffering and yellowing, not advancing at all, or are actually pretty good. I am thankful I do have some of each, not all yellow. My flax is poorer, seeded too deep with my ancient seeder, actually the rain helped make it deeper, but my oats looks great. Our crops are a solid two weeks behind you sf3. A few cereals are sprayable, but half the fields are impossible to tell what is seeded yet. Not much spraying has had to happen yet, like junior, it’s just not ready.

The shining star is the grass and hay is going to be unreal. I have one piece with 20 sheep (equal to 3 cows) an acre on it, and I see no impact on the grass hardly. Grass likes damp and cool. Glad we have something to take advantage of the ☔️.

                    Looking good sf3, looking good...

It makes it easy to fence from the neighbour's side. No chance of disturbing the prairie chickens by tripping over them. The neighbor must really appreciate the showing of their ground by a "tool".

How much poor verses good pasture management is the result of having pasture for 100 pairs when you only have 20 pairs of ownership?

Grass. One wire pinch with those pliers, is about all you get, hey? Cheap steel in that model, I found. Old red handled ones still going strong.

Maybe he was mad at it and threw it there and took a pic of it in it's final resting place. Can we all bow our heads have a moment of silence...

I’ve lost more 1/2 and 9/16 wrench’s in fields, and oh yeah ran over a pair of Sarengeti sunglasses during seeding. That would never happen to the $10 ones.

Patiently waiting for a decent drink. Have had a few 3 and 4/10th showers to keep me in the game. Haven't broke 1/2" in a single event yet. July worries me, but then in this special patch, July always worries me. Models all seem to be coalescing around nil sig mx 10-14 days out. Coming out of June on the dry side is mighty dangerous.
