    Now wheat is catching attention

Just heard Congressman Cramer's interview from North Dakota on the radio him and Senator hoeven Road Air Force One with Trump from DC yesterday to Fargo and apparently they discussed tariffs AND trade apparently Trump pulled out a card and ask them what the story was on US wheat going into Canada labeled as feed wheat when it's not

How many grades and segregation within those grades are actually needed when the wheat is really only sold to end users on specs anyway.

    Protien
    Moisture
    Falling Number
    Test Weight

Some of the other specs in grading are only used to extract value from the Producer...... point 25% fusarium in a #1CWRS....**** OFF, it may as well be 0% then!

I guess my point is they say American varieties aren't as good as Canada's.....put them in the class and grade they belong then.

Back in the day about 12 years ago there was an organic farmer who grew wheat that got a touch of bran frost. Nobody would touch it except for feed price. I sent a sample to the CGC for protein and falling number. The results were low protein 10% (? )and high falling number . I faxed and email the results to US buyers. Eventually forwarded physical sample. I sold 2 straight truck loads , 831 bushels each. The buyer trucked it from south of Shellbrook to Commerce City, Colorado and the farmer gained $3.00/bushel more than any canadian buyers would offer.
Thats when I learned to search out end users as often as possible. I also learned to stop growing wheat if I was going to make a living on a small farm.

              Ok, a couple of things.

The GrainCos don't make the rules but they sure know how to play by them and even abuse them. Contact the CGC nad CIGI about grading rules.

Where do we as Producer's get our money from, indirectly? Do we give credit to the people who consume our products when we donate to charity or the commumity? Or are the consumers really not our direct customers? There's alot of people taking their cut between us and the "end user"!

As I said in the thread I started about the rink donation...."they" didn't "have to" donate anything!

I don't really see much difference... Unless other area's are different, I know Shelby and Conrad would buy Canadian Durum and wheat, but it was bought, stored, shipped, and sold differently. Bin's had CWAD and CWRS on the board. Elevator manager told me they stuff it into seperate rail cars and it's bought as a CWRS at port. I would imagine there is a certain amount of blending that is taking place. Hauled out of Conrad to canadian flour mills that were taking a certain amount of DNS that the buyer said made different spec flour.

I could be wrong, but i imagine the domestic market up here just isnt big enough to soak up much in the way of DNS and it's likely shipped direct from US suppliers to CDN end users. And god knows we have enough trouble moving our own CWRS and CWAD to port, let alone segregating, and selling DNS for export. Perhaps they would be able to sell into the new CNHR?

Wonder how graincos will thank some members of Sask Wheat Commission who pushed it to support present regulation on wheat grading that Trump played up.
