Anybody's guess. What I find funny is I am told last year the average yield for our RM was 28 bu. of canola yet when I go to town or talk to friends and neighbors theirs all yielded 50-60.

What was the prov. average last year? When they get the prov. average do they talk to my friends?

Same here... Hear of all the big yields, then i get my crop insurance quote in the spring and I see the area average for the crops... Yea, BIG difference!

sask crop insurance don't mind because they can charge more premiums and if there is a wreck they can use that info to deny coverage to those that have yields under area average !

        Win Win !
Don't they occasionally do an audit to make sure your reported yields equal sales?

Aren't you an active farmer with crops, who would already have know the answer, as you have been claiming?

I always look who has grain left at end of the year.

Usually the BTO has emptied all their underground storage and are out.

Guys still hauling must of grew something because price you could of got for now way higher.

That under ground storage is such a great invention in canada for BTOs.

            Durum will be down 8%

            Hrs down 6%

            Oats down 9%

            Barley down 12%

            Peas down 13%

Canola 12% overall production drop for western canada.

Grain companies want high basis to take grain in fall is bullshit.

Canada only country In the world not saying what our crop is like. Manitoba crop report lady today wasn’t sure why peas being harvested had lower yields.

Wow real special people in some positions

I guess that is why the long faces when yield gets hurt? From what I hear, everyone must have some wicked yield coverage if the last several years are true yields. Maybe they haven’t been all they are cracked up to be? You hear of fifty averages, and then whining when yield looks bad, even thought they should be well covered...

I had one several years ago I am just not sure how many they do in a year. If they start facing big payouts I expect they will start making sure the average yield coverages are justifiable.

If you grow 28 bpa canola there will be red ink with the money were spending
Our canola coverage is 42.5 bpa at 80% ,even after the flood year of 2015, no bullshit
That year we had some do 10bpa crop ins was fair and fast
Couldnt sleep at night without that and hail ins
Have been audited on yield declarations in fall a few times , was always close

Same here , been audited twice because more than 25% over area average. Both times within 1.5% .
Anyway, crop yields and or potential nose dived the past 10 days in most areas in western Canada .... that is undeniable.

yea we are really lucky here , we were hurting a little in early July but just about right now . 1/2" out of last few days . crops are nice but I don't think canola will do as good as last year . 2016 was one of our
best crops , 2015 was one of our worst , back to back. hoping we can get what we have here , but always high risk in the swamp
