"The lawsuit is the first to accuse the product of causing cancer, but observers say a Monsanto defeat likely opens the door to thousands of other claims against the company, which was recently acquired by Germany's Bayer."

Sorry hobbyfarmer, guess we'll all soon be organic,,,,flooding your markets !

If glyphosate is banned, it will be career changing,,,,like going from autosteered air drills back to discers !

For some of us, the change is well underway. Glyphosate is used only for control of grassy weeds here, and there are strains of wild oats now resistant to it, so how much longer that will hold is anyones guess. It's useless because of natural resistance against it as a pre-burn, in crop roundup ready weed control, or pre-harvest weed control.

About the only purpose it serves is for spot spraying perennial weeds in the fall.

Chemfallow is a lost cause around here as well. Expensive cocktails that only wing or supress problem weeds mean guys are dragging double discs and cultivators again. God help me if I have to go back to conventional tillage...

Or perhaps a full hazmat suit and full breathing apparatus when working with Glyphosate. Does the label say anything about field re entry times? The surfactant is apparently the risk issue. Sure hope carbon cab filter works! Highest exposure would be spraying around the yard/buildings/bins. Bye bye preharvest..

We would be in rough shape in the NE without it
We dont normally get long open hot falls where crop can finish on its own
Usually an abundance of moisture so shit just keeps growing
Swathing cereals always high risk with our moisture

Maybe my Wishek disc will finally sell and I can buy a bigger/wider one to match new tractor hp better. Great tool. No herbicide resistance issues here.

The two sickles are going into the fields tomorrow full force...the wheat is going to be desiccated!

I bet some of you wonder, I mean now you know why I consdier myself the "Sandbox Farmer from the Slum of the Ghetto"....who else swaths?

Hoping to get it off high quality. Eyes takes my chances! August is usually a better harvest month than September...Sept can be pissy and drizzly.

No Glypho preharvest on the Wheaties here.

                      ps...to each their own!

Pretty certain your wheat is DEAD RIPE, no desiccation can happen, spray post harvest iF IT RAINS, best kill on thistles , dandelion and foxtail then. Oh ya use the hazmat suit with roundup. We are not far behind you.

Round up tolerant wild oats? Since when? Just wait till you can’t use glysophate and see what you will do. big talker that change is under way.

Have been driving by oat field once a week or so, sign says organic farm.
Looks like complete crop failure this year, ,nothing to harvest, not even weeds.
Suspect lack of nitrogen fertilizer, maybe denitrification of what was there.
Fields like this not uncommon in past, now rare.

fj, we have rolling topography and variable fields. Low spots would probably "Glypho" desiccate!

Those low spots seem to hang on forever while the high ground becomes dead ripe....just one of the "joys" of Ghetto farming.
