I would call them and ask.

Perry is a farmer and they are very reasonable.

I think the key thing is to capture and secure the yield data, then you can move it where you want and provide any access to agronomists and advisors if you want.

This sounds like what all farmers should opt for and stop giving away our yields to “Big Data”.
I would be interested in any other comments about these units including proper calibration which is a common complaint of other yield monitors. Especially for someone like myself who does not presently own a grain cart with onboard scales for verification.

This thread was just brought to my attention so I wanted to clear up a few misconceptions. The yield data we collect remains the farmer’s property at all times. The data is treated as confidential, our business model is not based upon selling aggregated data. The first paragraph of our end user service agreement expressly states that we do not share or sell your data.

For some background… Troo is a small Ottawa company with 14 employees, although we're flattered that our website makes us look like a huge multi-national! Perry (the farmer in the install video at the top) cofounded the company in 2004 and we’ve mostly dealt in the aviation tracking and flight data management sectors until recently. As you can imagine, the aviation sector is incredibly strict about data confidentiality and security, we use the same backend services for aviation as we do for agriculture.

Perry built this yield monitor originally for his own personal farm, he decided to use the software portal built by Troo to automate the mapping side of yield monitoring. We’ve spent the last two years building algorithms to completely automate the cleaning, filtering, and processing of the raw data to generate interpolated yield maps virtually instantly. The reason for the cloud is that these processes require substantial computing power and using web-based servers allows us to scale up or scale down the virtual machines as required. The subscription service allows users to build an account for their farm and view all their fields laid out by year, you can export the cleaned yield maps to other farm management services or pass them on to your agronomist.

If users are not interested in the automated mapping service, they are not required to subscribe. The raw data will always be available to the user. We're not here to collect data, we just want to make it easy for farmers to get yield maps.
