Trade talks with Canada proving 'really, really difficult,' with little progress: U.S

Trade talks with Canada proving 'really, really difficult,' with little progress: U.S. NAFTA negotiator.

No shit Sherlock when you have ministers who are appointed by gender and no real experience and have a view of the world that no other country believes in. Canada is doomed.

WASHINGTON, D.C. Trade negotiations with Canada have been “really, really difficult,” achieving no substantial progress so far, says one of the United States’ top negotiators, offering a new glimpse at NAFTA-related tensions between the two countries.

Gregg Doud, the chief U.S. agriculture negotiator, contrasted the Canadian stance with what he suggested was smooth sailing in talks with Mexico, according to agriculture-media coverage of a speech he made this week in Michigan.

The negotiations with Mexico to update the free trade agreement, which resumed Thursday morning in Washington, are “going as well as we can possibly expect right now,” he was quoted as saying by the Hagstrom Report.

“I think we are going to get there with Mexico in a relatively short order.”

The third NAFTA partner is a different matter, Doud told an American Sugar Alliance event in Traverse City, Mich.

“Canada, O Canada, is what you want to say,” the trade official said, according to a report by Food Business News and Hagstrom. He said long-standing agriculture issues with the Canadians have still not been resolved, an apparent reference to American objections to Canadian supply-management systems for dairy and poultry.

U.S. negotiators “haven’t had market access conversations with Canada of any substance,” the Hagstrom Report quoted Doud as saying. Talks have been “really, really difficult … We have to go to get to a situation where we can bring Canada on board and wrap this thing up.”

Asked about the reports, the office of U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer raised no objections to their accuracy.

Doud’s comments echo those of Lighthizer himself, who told U.S. senators recently that he was close to a deal with Mexico, but that Canada has not been as willing to compromise.

Canadian embassy spokespeople could not be reached for comment.

And our Gay Prince is on holidays again taking a personal day.

WTF wake up Canadians this moron and his crew was the most idiotic experiment next to Nut Case in Alberta.

A day off again eh ? Musta been a tough gay pride 🏳️*🌈 parade . They must be exhausting.
Good to see him pay tribute to the fallen in Fredricton , although if the gay pride parade was not on there he would have never made that trip .

I just wish he would come out of the closet already and admit he is Gay. I would respect him more.

But the longer he is in office the more damage he will do to Canada.

Sad but its actually a good day when he isn't working. Less damage happens.

BTW , nothing against the gay pride parade, just saying if it were not in Fredricton , he would have not been at the tribute .
Regardless, anouther senseless shooting and loss of life . Even with the strictest gun controls these lowlifes get guns .
Been very very quiet about the Vegas shooter ...... who BTW was not a lone wolf as some of us pointed out immediately......
terrible to see innocent civilians and police lose their lives and families effected from these few lunatics in society.

I agree he wouldn't have been in Fredrickton if it wasn't for the pride parade.

Too much is hidden in these police investigations to protect the low lives and move further with an agenda.

Disarming Canadians is the ultimate goal.

But funny with worlds strictest rules the criminals always find guns.

          HM.

I thought the same but I heard a report this morning which stated he had been booked to attend the *** parade for a long time. So he hopped clear across the country on our dime in order go from one *** parade to another. Its really hard to understand his priorities. Or maybe really easy.

A good question would be "cause and effect". Did shit like this always happen but we are just that much more in tune with it and it is reported more than ever?

Guns, there were always guns around, especially rural....every farm had a small arsenal of low caliber guns and a shot gun and maybe a high power. But why what appears to be so much gun violence now?

Ever see what's on TV these days,,,,always a gun being pointed at someone, but was that any different than "Gun Smoke" or "The Ponderosa" or those old Westerns. There's been almost two decades of violent video games also "conditioning" young minds. Maybe it's all a self fulfilling prophecy! You reap what you sow!

BOY IS THIS OFF THE THREAD TOPIC

I see intolerance is raising its ugly head again on Agriville with homophobic comments.

So more guns are going to reduce violence in Canada? 50 % of the guns in the GTA are legally owned. many of those legally owned guns end up used in crime because they get sold or are stolen.

Why do people in Toronto or anywhere else need to own a hand gun? They have no useful purpose except to kill people.

Gee Chuck, expand your mind a little and consider why someone might.

Yes Chuck must be law abiding lefty gun owners selling their guns to the criminals just to prove a point.

The level of name calling and intolerance on this board is concerning. Please try criticizing policy rather than the person. Perhaps negotiating with Canada is problematic because we are not as easily pushed around by bully tactics. Just giving in is easy but then what?
