We were set up for anouther relatively early wheat harvest here with zero rain in the first 2/3 August.. but second growth showed up , then smoke delayed that maturity, now of course rain decides to show up lol. That pushed wheat harvest back a good two weeks or more now.
The little wheat taken off here is all over the map in terms of quality. Time will tell now how it all turns out. Weather going forward will be a big determination on quality . Good for swathing canola tho 👍

      What is the quality issues?

I've seen nothing but #1 except for the guys that are taking off with too many grass green or desiccating too early (DRK IMM) and a few with ergot.

        Exactly what you just mentioned.
But very little wheat has been harvested here yet to say for sure what it will grade in general. A lot of second growth in areas here due to extreme dryness in July . So time will tell . Some areas have extreme second growth. Most areas it’s just dry knolls , approach’s and compacted headlines around fields with some second growth.

Feed grain will be very cheap two months from now because there is a lot of second growth out there in northern regions and dead ripe material deteriorating while the grass grass low spots wait for a frost in this weather. Looking at a field yesterday to figure preharvest timing and that is a challenge. Sell feed grains now.

Sprinkling in Regina, combines parked in shed. Guess its going to be perfect Canola swathing weather. Harvest weather was great while it lasted👍

Some of my wheat seems to be getting greener ever day. Just not sure of the best way to deal with it.

Working on barley and got rained out on Sunday. Got back at it today with a nice westerly wind but by late afternoon more rain.
