I haven't posted how much I cut nitrogen on those fields in test strips and you cannot notice a difference in crop at all.

Absolutely, but I was refuting claims that successful farming is more about luck than using your brains.

Has anyone browsing this thread gone out to buy a refractometer yet? Do any of your agros use them or know anything about Brix. Also has anyone ever looked at their soil and rhizospheres under a compound or dissecting microscope?

Majority of “Argos” here completely ignore sugar levels and are dictated to by chem companies or major fert like mosaic who train them to think that sugar levels and healthy soil is witchcraft and snake oils. And I am not joking at all . Even on here with most fellow farmers you get butchered at times when bring up alternatives to mainstream Ag .
Anyway every farmer should have one and more Agros should be looking at soil under a microscope but it would expose the b/S they are fed from big Ag here in Canada.

Ohh and as far as Temp , Drew says Meadow lake to Spiritwood is going to get smacked with -5 by Wednesday.
We are late in general in the NW with many green crops in areas

Austrandia, the sad fact is side companies like bio agronics, have been into sugar level and soil micro biology for near 20 years but have been almost completely ignored by mainstream Canadian Ag .

I have had one for a few years. Started after I used some BTYR products and also started this year using a product from BioAgronics. Still learning but that is what keeps me interested in farming.

How big of a region will freeze??.....weather network is nowhere near that.

It will be interesting to see if Drew is right. Depends on where and when this next high centres . It’s a high pressure on the wrong side of the Jet stream .
No one remotely call for the last two frosts 4 days out either , they were all at 6 or 7 c on their 5 day outlooks till the night before. Canadian forecast models are garbage.

Zero forecast for Regina Tuesday morning. Durum will be in the bin - Canola will be vulnerable to say the least.

We finished swathing canola yesterday, so hopefully we are out of the woods so to speak by Tuesday, Wednesday as most of our canola was very even and at that 60% seed colour change already .
A lot of green canola getting cut now in the area . Guys are given er all over .
Most of the cereals are 90% mature locally , so should be ok.

Weather Network has never been anywhere close to forecasting lows correctly at this time of year for us. Always many degrees too high. I ignore them when concerned about frost. Stick with Environment Canada on low temps.

I hope you got that backwards. Ec showing -3 and weather network +4 for Monday night. Cereals would be fine here but hardly any canola that could take a frost right now due to super late germniation.

Looks like it may be close tonight , but the high coming in will be in Edmonton area Monday night , NW sask tues and north central sask Wednesday. Just depends when the Center of the high passes through each area how cold it may get .
But it is September and not unusual at all it’s just that crops in the region are behind last year is the concern . Actually the past 4-5 years we have had earlier dry frost free harvest till the end of Sept , that’s more unusual than now.
The last few years we have had 2/3rds of our wheat off and dry by the first week of September. This is closer to what we normally had for weather and maturity over the past 15-20 years.
End of the day time will tell what happens

                                WHERE DID HE SAY THAT?

                                This is Friday's email:

Another wave of cold air will pass over the region Tuesday and Wednesday, which will bring the next opportunity for cold weather. Some of the more recent computer forecast models suggested an area of high pressure will accompany this wave of cold air. Frost and light freezes are expected in many Alberta and Saskatchewan locations both mornings with pockets potentially cooling to -3.

I sent him an email but today is church day - so he won't answer until tomorrow.
