Ah, the harvest season is starting to rev up. But we finally got our first precipitation in 38 Days and it was a whopping 2.5 mm to the north of us about 7 miles half an inch and did hear from a friend who was dry all year up to 1.5 inches on his low yielding Durum.

Some are calling Trump's way of Dealing with a Bully.

Nope if you know Americans they don't like Nafta blame it on all the problems but they were mad at one country Mexico, not Canada. America has always been Americans first rest second. So if our Genius in Ottawa just would have grown up and went down and met with Trump and said were with you deal with Mexico and we will then do a deal together I feel it would have got done right.

But no our Gay pride gender neutral bullshit screwed up. Again the Kids table tried to go sit at the Adult table and got Canada Screwed again. Now the Americans know were weak and are going to have us sign a useless deal thanks to Captain Canada F#$King up.

It must be tough to be a Liberal and Watch this shit show and still go I'm proud of our PM and the Liberal Party. Hell if Harper did this he would have had a revolt and been tossed out. But the Liberals stick with their fool till the lights are out.

Sad Canada can't get its shit together.

Did hear a rumour that maybe India is back buying Peas. Hm most sold off the combine and grain companies dropped the price to lowest in history if this is true how much profit will be made. Ah, the poor grain companies. We need open sales data from the Coasts and real concern and real fines. Transparency is needed in the grain trade in Canada. Oh, and it wasn't Captain Canada or our pulse board that got them to change. IMO.

So now on to the Crop Report as the Liberals go another week in there mandate and do nothing for the good of Canada.

Harvest in our area is probably 21% we are sitting at 16% complete as peas were delayed compared to most.

Peas are for the most part all off in our area and so are most of the lentils. Lentils did very well from reports I am hearing peas got stuck at 20% below average. Fields hurt since spring recovered but yielded way lower. I feel lots will quit growing peas in our area and if it stays dry switch back to lentils like the 80s. Pea seed if guys don't test have cracks in the seed coat due to environmental conditions and will not germinate. Check seed if growing peas as some lots might be a dud.

Soy is all but dead for a crop that will be grown in our area. Every field will be crop insurance as no pods. Beautiful looking crop with three pods or less. Needs rain when the rest of the crops don't in August.

HRS for most is sprayed or swath and the waiting is happening. Most filled up all aeration and now are letting it dry on its own. Swath HRS we picked up before the rain on Monday.
Yield is as good as last year and the new varieties are showing they can grow shorter and yield way more. But one problem is still out there thanks to the flood years when talking to a lot of people in our area. You maybe seeded 140 acres or 160 on some fields but the foxtail or salt areas need another dryer year to actually get back to production. Ah still seeing the effects years later. But one thing is certain were back to almost all fields end to end and that's what I like.

Flax is either sprayed or swath and the waiting is on.

Durum is for the most part harvested with yields similar to HRS. Great quality.

Barley is also for the most part harvested and the Malt game is on but this year feed is almost just as good and no hassle.

Rail Cars are short and not seeing lots of movement.

Pastures and hay land are taking it hard. Need something before freeze up or not good at all. Green feed seeded end of June is having issues in places but overall its handled the heat not bad.

Canola something is funny this year, sell the swather for some is again buy the swather and swath. See minor hail or two stages it's easy to let the pod shatter varieties stand and swath and cure and harvest. Who knew.

Pod shatter has a place. I put half sections in between say 6 quarters of L252 then a half of pod shatter last 5 are pod shatter, to help with swathing. It worked, fields come in and when you think your behind you hit a pod shatter and catch up. We go on pod shatter up to 96% and have big nice seeds that are so easy to harvest it's not even funny. 5mph vs 2.5 if its thick.

Canola yields won't top last year in our area but early is coming in just a little below 2018. Later seeded will have heat blast. One more rain and who knows what the yields would have been.

    Some still don't roll.

Lots are dropping straw for neighbours for free.

So to wrap up harvest so far most are in a holding pattern I feel this weekend it will be full bore if Friday's rain doesn't happen. 14 days either swath or standing and guys who don't spray and try straight cut are playing round and round patch game.

Yields on HRS in our area are best they have been and all are happy.

    Peas down.

    Lentils up nice.

    Barley normal.

    Oats lower on early.

    Flax lower

    Durum similar to HRS.

    Canola down from last year.

Not playing with the market its the facts weigh wagon and all you just can't get yield if rains don't come no matter how hard you try. We are very lucky and did catch three of the 4 I wanted. Next year is a different story because the gas tank is on fumes its empty. If no fall rains happen we are going to have big issues in 2019.

So be safe and remember the ones at home are way more important than any crop.

Prices are dropping every day harvest pressure. HAHAHAHAHAH

Post your area please and what you're seeing I posted in the flood years when a quarter you seeded 155 acres on and harvested 97 but you spent on the 155 and didn't make any money. Farming is Luck and management.

Yea this is the Problem we have in Canada and we didn't learn anything form the Shit show in Alberta when they wanted to get even with the Cons and split the vote and let Nut case win. Well people were pissed at Harper and voted and that is our right as Canadians but Captain Canada is a total useless fool.

Come on Justin lets try to go a week without screwing up Canada. We're pulling for you.

More land into lentils? Lets just kill that market dead now shall we.

What happened to bagging in the fields? 2 yrs ago everyone was doing it, now nobody is doing it. Not even the BTOs.

With the price of fert rocketing there will be more pulses planted more than ever next year. No one is going to step out and spend money on canola seed especially for how dry it is. Sure moisture can come but you need SUB SOIL!!
Have had two calls N as high as 540, they should be ashamed quoting this. She’s bone dry down who knows how far, so I’m not buying.
Until farmers quit buying into this game it will never end. Buy now cuz she going up. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Will take a lot of $6 peas and $7 durum to buy at these levels. Prices are putrid yields might be average but fert is up over $110T more than last year at the same time.
There are some areas to the west that won’t gross $100 ac on pulses.

Biggest joke of the season so far. Feed wheat in the $6 range. #1 13% protein (or higher) durum is $6.90. Guess its feed too.

Surely its got to be $750 a bag now too. Book yours before its too late. Supplies limited.

Its the same cost to grow lentils as canola because guys insist on 10 applications of fungicide.

I never spray fungicide. You are just making the problem worse and it wasn't necessary this yr at all.

Harvest here has stalled since last Thursday.
A few going yesterday in the afternoon but high humidity set in fast again last night with light showers . Overall very little harvest done west , maybe 10 - 15% as you go east .
Lots of green canola and strippy canola still standing .
A few early canola fields off
Immature second growth has any hope of an early wheat harvest gone in most areas. Rains are starting to effect all cereals and at green peas left .
Local elevators are panicking with trains showing up and virtually no harvest done, all willing to take very tough grain if it can be taken off . Amazing how that works ....
ADM in Lloyd paying $11 canola picked up in yard .... local elevators are around $10. ..... they must be sweeping the floors ... and confirms there is not a fukin chance in hell there is a big carry over of canola - never was .

I’m considering peas on lentil and canola stubble.

I think you will see canola acres go lower especially in marginal areas. Too many guys in the SW thought they were canola experts until the rains stopped. Way to iffy there now and 30 bu crops dont pay the bills.

Case, let those guys sweep floors for the winter. Shouldnt be a kernel delivered until Q2-2019.

The world crop production is all coming in lower especially on major crops.

Last years bull shit was just that pure shit.

Experts don’t like to say they were wrong.

I said it was lower and people laughed.

Just like this year is a average.

Yep two years in a row the experts look like f$&king folds.

Any one can be a crop advising company telling you to pump every thing to a crop look at the big yields but when the rain stops these fools show what they are made of pure bullshit.

                              Harvest pressure is another joke.

Big bins and bags only harvest pressure is guys needin cash and viagra inputs taking in farmers grain.

On a positive note wow do we have a larger jackrabbit population this fall lots every swath.
