The Liberals were never a great party....EVER! John Turner and company in 1984 and 1988 and Trudope 1 before railed against the big evil USA and there should be no Free Trade deal in Canada with the US. I remember it well.

The NFU sent out bumper sticker “Free Canada Trade Mulroney” and the NDP, CCFers proudly stuck them to the farm truck.

David Orchard (bless him) started a whole movement of maybe 100 people to Stop Free Trade!

Well common sense prevailed and Mulroney pushed on and Canada has been reaping US benefits and increased GDP for years, enjoying prosperity for years....until they figured this out down south now the gig is up.

Trump is not interested in free trade. He wants to go back to protectionist measures and intends to subsidize sectors like agriculture that suffer consequences from his bumbling confusion.

He criticized the WTO this morning as well even though the USA regularly uses the WTO rules to argue their case against China.

I am just not sure why any Canadian farmers who are dependent on trade, can support a US president who is willing to impose import tariffs on Canadian imports and at the same time spend billions subsidizing their farmers. I guess these farmers must really want lower prices. LOL
