Well, the harvest is in full swing in our area. Or is it. Funny thing this year grain is not drying down the way it normally does. Sprayed fields aren't cooked till 21 days after spray. Guys that don't spray are playing the patches game. Guys that swath are filling aeration but it is dry after 14 days. Most of the farms in our area are just about wrapping up the cereal harvest. Now waiting on the Canola to Straight cut or swath canola is ready.
Ah, Trudeau, our most useless fool in all-time didn't let us down again this week he screwed up NAFTA. How childish can you be to go tell another country what to do on Native rights, Women and Gender Neutral rights plus climate change in a trade document? He is an arrogant fool.
Now the biggest idiot is NANOS who every week publish that their favourite PM is leading in the Polls. Now after the biggest week of screw-ups, they have him up to 40% chance of winning a majority. I actually got banned for calling them a fool organization. I said wow they really hurt my feelings. This new Canada where feelings are priority really sucks.
My feelings are hurt because of a PM who Danced in India and Screwed up our Pea price with not hitting India back but were farmers so we don't matter. Keep growing cheap food.
Again he is trying to win an election showing that the Big Fool from Canada can take on the Big Bad USA.
Ok here is this weeks report.
We are at 26% complete had a great week with no delays and no rain again. So basically the last rain on Sunday will have been 49 days. (For grass there is the total from all the showers of 2.3mm ).
HRS is coming in similar to last year but it depends if you are in an area that had more rain. Big difference in a 10-mile area. For us were similar to last year to a little above. Quality is Number 1 and protein is from 13.8 to 16.7 so far. Big fat seed. Most are almost wrapping up the wheat harvest.
Barley is all done no fields left from what I can see. Most are waiting on Malt and some are excepted. Feed is the way to go as the price is almost the same.
Oats yields are down about 25% and they are lighter than last year.
Flax harvest is underway as few fields sprayed are being taken off. Yield is lower than last year. Swath fields some are done.
Durum harvest is done with good quality and yields a little lower than HRS this year.
Peas are done some had a very nice yield others are average and ours well thanks BASF not good.
Canola a few fields are off with lower yields than last year but still very nice. Some fields in our area have the potential for a 6 in front for yield. But again depends on variety and rain. Some Pod shatter is not showing as good yield as regular this year. Wonder if they aren't bred for drought. Just saying. Most that sprayed are waiting for the green to dry down and the swath fields the same.
Pastures are running out of gas fast. Green feed made it give some seed in Head but Frost two nights ago cooked it good. -4 for a while and frost on windows. Killing frost I would say.
So I have to go fill up and start harvesting this is a short report. Have a safe harvest and remember the ones at home are way more important than any crop.
If your short start talking to your banker now. as I feel once the results get to Calgary or Toronto some weird shit might happen this fall with accounts.
In our area, it's normal to slightly below normal crop that depends on rain this summer.
Have a great day.
