On the export side, time will tell. They have always been the keepers of the last kernels. Domestically they are a powerhouse that just makes shit happen. I wouldn't be surprised if plan B is, you like to grow corn? Let's go to E-15 or 20 and shift those bean acres back to corn. When these guys decide to move mountains, anything is possible. Hell, at least the general population stands behind them. Their innovation is never to be underestimated. US ag is listened to, mostly on political structure but they have their lobbyists as well, sugar is king on lobby. They still have the biodiesel card.

So that means if they can't beat them one on one the strategy is to gang up on them? They want allies to wage an economic war on the U.S. with them. How will this all end for individual countries...even without alliance's being formed.

World trade for decades has been about selling more into the US market and not importing anything so in that type of environment the US might as well have a tariff. China is collapsing so your second comment is being lived right now. Americans have stopped caring about what those who hate them think and rightly so,

DX appears to have hit resistance, a setback here would soften the blow on exports. Just because a tarrif is in place doesn't mean exports are dead. Any currency setback and i expect US origin will start looking appealing.

US Ag these days seems to be on an unstoppable roll these days. Production of everything is going up. Not just corn, beans, and wheat but stuff like green peas, green lentils and chickpeas too not to mention dairy. Pretty much everything finds a market eventually. Americans just like to win and so far so good.

Seems to me that a lot of this trade war is just another tax grab from consumers.
Trump says “ Hey J T, lets talk tough on trade and then punitive taxes and we both collect”. So far report is Canada has collected an extra 300 million and so we consumers will pay.

somethin changed years 15-18 years ,ago to improve the lot of ag around the world.
why we are now at 3-500,000 a quarter.

before was constant oversupply . EU and US subsides .

it just seems it improved when the US started making all that ethanol with corn.
maybe that is not it, maybe just a coincidence .

the other factor probably bigger , is the billions in the third world
finally having a Nickle to go from almost starving , to eating better.

technology and a little education , and all the manufacturing jobs
making , phones , runners , clothes , machinery.

china used to have starvation , when I was a kid.

in grade 5 the earth had 3 billion people , now we have 7 billion.
and most of the 7 billion now have at least some money for food

US AG might have temporary hurt, that will be it .
