The $12 canola I was talking about was last year.
I sold my last 12k for $12. Guess others thought it would go to $13

Australia froze and mist of the great canola is stilling the field.

Canola is and will always be Soys ugly step sister.

        Sad really for farmers.

        Great for Grain company’s

I agree with Macdon and Jazz, just ignore the games going on right now. I realize that soy is almost at a no bid situation in places just south of the border, which obviously is dragging us down. But it is also creating opportunities to canola to fill the voids left by the soy tariffs.

And more importantly, unlike soybeans, there really is no alternative to canola, especially the oil. Companies that switched to canola oil have spent a lot of money on marketing etc. They won't switch over for a few cents difference in price. The canola will have to be sourced sooner or later. Just depends how long some farmers can afford to hold out. Periods like this give the impression that too many farmers can't afford to wait for better prices.

This represents a weekly price point and does not show intraweek highs.
              $12.00/bu is equivalent to $529.11/tonne

And all you have to do is notice the absence of talk of canola yields on here to know how bad it really is ?
Last year larry and others were saying how big the yields were , (and i still dont believe they were in my opinion) shes deathly quiet on yields this year ?
If you cant talk yields up , keep quiet . Canadian way , i guess ?

On my travels in west country I haven't seen enough harvested to establish any yields. Maybe a few poorer crops off is about all.
